its not low or anything, and your gauge could be sticking a lil, most of them do that, but i wouldnt be concerned w/ it. if you wanna check it, just get an oil pressure gauge to screw in and see what the actual pressure is.

whats it reading, is that at idle or cruising? you wanna get a gauge and make sure thats really what its reading. your dash gauge could be reading incorrectly, so verify thats really what it is first.

due to internal wear on compression rings
and all the main/rod bearings wear, its normal for oil pressure to drop overtime.

oil pressure constanly at 80 is only when the car is really new,
as engine gets some miles, its normal for pressure to go lower.

I dont know how many miles u got,
but my engine has 191k miles on it,
and with thick oil that I use, I get 50 when running
and 40 in idle.

as ur engine warms up pressure will drop slightly due to oil becoming thinner
and thats normal.

from 50 running and 40idle, when my engine is warmed up
it will go little above 40 running, and as low as 20 in hot idle.

so with the oilpressure you can kind of guess the condition
of internal parts. urs is nothing to worry about,
with my number Ive been driving my car everyday 30miles
and no problem its been 1year now. (although I do have unrelated other problems lol)

hope that helps

you could always get an new oil pressure sending unit. Try that and see if maybe thats the problem. its a fairly cheap and easy job.

What does it mean when you give it gas and the oil pressure gets pinned all the way high??
