weird idle

Hi , I searched the forum and couldn't find anything that really applied to my situation. I have a 1991 RS 3.1 auto trans with about 110xxx miles and the car will idle at 750rpm fine for about 5 or 10 seconds then it revs itself up to 1000rpm for about 5 seconds, then it goes back to 750. Anybody know what this could be?
