exhaust pop... flowmaster
i fixed my backfire/misfire problem almost all the way by replacing my egr valve and tube(had holes in it).
but now i still have alittle pop in my exhaust... but im thinking it because im running a flowmaster muffler and tips from a 350... could this pop be caused by not enough backpressure?
im thinking of buying smaller exhaust tips to create more backpressure.
Is this even a good idea or could my problem with the pop be somewhere else?

muffler size don't matter. That pop is un-burnt fuel. You got a cat?
Could always temp rig a volt meter to your O2 and watch it when you hear noise. Could be a leaky cold start injector.

Theres a few things that could cause that..a exhaust valve not closing completely?..maybe a weak valve spring..Fuel mixture too lean/rich..You need to run a compression check and make sure you got them all equal.Check fuel pressure and maybe check computer codes? In other words,do some basic checking of the engine/fuel/codes and go from there?

Well there ya go, if you know your rich..... thats your pop. 2+2=
gonna hafta get a book for that cold start stuff. But I just know its comes up allot as a cause of folks running rich. Could be a bad reg injector but most just get them cleaned. Never heard of one leaking, though anything is possiable.
tun ups are good but once done and still rich
you gotta service the fuel system for that.
Would be like changing tires cause your brakes were bad.
Yep good tires help the brakes work but its a side effect.
Just gotta reason things out a bit more.
We get this weekly when guys wanna buy a new $300 TCI cause they got weak spark on 1 cyl of their bike. The TCI does nothing but tell the coil when to fire, it has no control over how well it fires. But its shocking how many folks just wanna spend $300 instead of just doing the reverse and changing the plugs or wires on their bike. [$30 maybe] Some sort of myth out there that plug wires on bike last forever. Almost always a dirty plug wire to coil or plug boot connectioin after 20+ years of use. As bikes use solid core wire that rust and corrodes.

Where's your exhaust leak??? The reason I know that you have one is because you need Oxygen to burn the excess fuel. If it's burning up in the exhaust and causing little pops, outside air is getting into the exhaust from somewhere.
Since you say it's running rich, I would guess it's somewhere upstream of the O2 sensor. Hey, it could even be a fauly diverter valve assembly on the air pump.
