key ignition

key ignition

hey guys my car was broken into awhile back and the dude broke my steering column.. i was looking at it and i cant figure out what he broke to make the ignition turn without a key in it. the plastic cover is taken off.

what did this guy do to make my car work without a key?

ignition switch

if your ignition looks like this one:



you will notice the ignition actuator rack. looks like a toothbrush with metal ridges instead of bristles. if you take a screwdriver and stick it into one of the ridges and pull it back, it is just like turning your key in the ignition. I used to work at a tow yard and had to drive around lots of cars with this issue.

Transmission: 3 on the tree
Axle/Gears: so tall theres no point
great now everyones going to be out stealing cars..........................

if 10 year olds can steal cars, I am sure anyone old enough to actually drive one would have little problem, if that is what they really wanted to do. Most newer cars don't have that style of steering column anymore and there are different ways to start different makes of cars without a key. Not to mention having to bypass alarms or kill switches.

get a new steering column would be best thing to do and not messs with the old 1
