Will 2.8L v6 headers work on a 3.1L v6?

I was going to say the same. Actually it's a question that is asked often.

2.8 headers on a 3.1 in California

From what I have been told, while a 3.1 is just a stroked 2.8 and the headers bolt up the same, the smog plumbing is the problem.
Has anyone written a tech article on modding the 2.8 pacesetters for the 3.1 application to make them California smog legal?

just convert to the 2.8 smog system. (or if not in CA) dithc the smog system as it is probably broken anyway.

How do you 'switch to the 2.8 smog system'? And is that still smog legal?

step one:
attain parts from the 2.8s smog system. the smog pump, the hard lines for the AIR system, the manifold AIR tubes, all vaccume lines and all wiring (should not be much)

step two:
put it in your car. this may involve converting your serpentine car to Vbelt.

one thing to consider. get the 2.8 header tubes, weld them shut on the inside (so they do not function) and put them on. then run a tube behind the engine where it cannot be seen and just tell them it is hooked up.

even if you modified the 3.1 system to work with the headers the headers have a CARB# for a 2.8 only, so no matter what you do NO IT IS NOT LEGAL.
