Blessing or a Curse

Cracked heads and block in the 87 2.8 mpfi. The debate is on in my head with the 3.4 swap or just prep everything for 350. I ran across a great deal on a complete(wiring, ecm, sensors, distributor) 86 305 TPI setup. I've always planned for the V8 swap when the 6 finally gave out but I'm weary of the cash now because my pockets arn't as deep as they used to be with wife and son.

Anyway enough rambling which is the cheapest most effiecient route.
1. 3.4
2. 5.7
3. 3800 or 4.3 is that possible?

You may not be able to afford it but if you're going to spend the time and money to swap a V8 into a V6 car, I wouln't use a third gen V8.

3.4 is the most efficient. All of the other options would require a new transmission.

Cheapest would be a 3.4 since it's pretty much a bolt in.

I wouldn't be using a third gen block just the TPI, The block I have is from a 70 Z/28 bored over .030 ported and shaved heads. Not sure on exact number but this was a monster in the 79 Z/28 I had. I sold the car without my motor. It had a 850 dual line holley and high rise single plane manifold. It was great at WOT but driveability it was lacking. So I thought maybe the TPI would be a great remedy for that application.

I've found a couple 3.4 in local yards for $500. Skidish about taking someone's word for a motor that is already pulled.

CMEngines.com has 60* short blocks (actually yours rebuilt) for 560 and long blocks around 700. 200 core charge 175 shipping and handling and that option tops a grand. For that price I would rather spend a few more and go with GM performance 3.4. But as I've said cash is an issue.

I was negotiating with on a 91 3.1 RS. They say one of the EGR valve bolt holes stripped out is all that is wrong beyond no title. They were against me trying to start it though. To my understanding shouldn't that engine still run but be loud and sputter with NO egr valve on it, providing there are no other problems.
