lacks power

I took a 1991 3.1 from a firebird and put in a sandrail. I have hooked everything up and have been running it for about a week. The problem is that it lacks power and the responce is not up to par. I have done the following. put on new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil, checked compression (140 on all 6 cylinders), checked the injectors and all are firing great. The only thing left that I can think of is I bought a computer from a local salvage yard and I told them what the old one cam out of and they looked on there list and pulled one from a 92 or 93 corsica. The corsica also had coil pack were I am running a distibuter. Should I change out the prom on the new computer? Any insight would be helpful. Also Can anyone tell me what the timing should be set on. Our local chevy dealer said 0 degrees but everywhere else say between 8-12 dergrees. Thank Yall.

Re: lacks power

i do beive u have the worng computer all together, and cant understand how u even have it running of a computer made to control a dis system, working with a dizzy.if the ecm u got is a 730 ecm u can just swap in a prom from an camaro/firebird v6 90-92.though make sure u get the right prom for auto/manual
timming should be in the 10-12* range.make sure u unhook the est wire before checking/setting the timing.

im curious as to what u did for a harness, did u just use the harness out of the firebird?

Re: lacks power

Yes, used and modified the harness out of the bird. cut out everything that we did not need. and spliced the rest to my control box. Thanks for your reply.

Re: lacks power

id reset the timing and see what happens.other then that check which ecm it is and aslo what prom is in it.i forget exactly what the right prom is for the firebird/camaro. but if u get the numbers off the ecm and prom and post them up in the diy-prom section im sure somone there will know exactly what u have or can give u a link to reference the numbers to make sure u get the correct prom, assuming its even the right ecm
