Different Direction
This weekend on my way back home from Daytona something went very very wrong with my engine. That has placed my Turbo 3.1 project on a very very long hold. Luckilly a friend of mine with a Buick Regal T-Type is redoing his engine and decided to sell the whole motor to me. With a few key parts missing, like the computer, wiring harness, and exhaust manifolds. Now my problem is that I do not know if the Turbo 3.8 will drop straight into a 91 Camaro. If anyone knows please let me know. Cause I need to go ahead and get what is needed.
If there was a thread about this already please show me the way cause I couldnt find it...

Re: Different Direction
the ex manifolds are the hard part they are discontinued, did u get the turbo with it?im sure somone makes the headers aftermarket for them for swaping them into f-bodys u just have to look around
i reaserched the swap along time ago and cant remeber all what is needed,to do it, but since u dont have a computer.harness id say go with a megaquirt unit its prolly cheaper and its tunable via a laptop.

Re: Different Direction
I know you can use the heads from a FWD lesabre, so maybe those manifolds work too?

Re: Different Direction
You also need either a 2004R transmission with a Buick (B-O-P) bellhousing to bolt to your engine or a 700R4 from a V8 car or truck.
If you get the 700R4 then you need to take your tailshaft housing off of your V6 tranny and fit it to your new V8 tranny so that you can bolt on your torque arm mount. Your V6 uses the "metric" GM transmission bolt pattern and your Buick V6 uses the old (B-O-P) bolt pattern for the transmission.
If you get the 2004R transmission then you have to either fabricate a torque arm mount to fit your transmission crossmember (after you modify it to bolt up to your tranny) or you can buy a ready to go crossmember from Spohn.
Your motor bounts use special lower halves that are solid and bolt to the frame while using normal rubber upper Buick mounts that bolt to the block. You can make the lowers if you take a little time with a small sized home use mig welder to fab the lowers and then take them to a welding shop to finish them up...
Good luck on your awesome new swap!!!
The best stock heads to run on your motor will be from a Lesabre, Bonneville, or Delta 88/98 with a 3800 vin code C from 1988 through 1991. Don't use the vin code L engine heads because the intake ports don't line up. The vin code 3 heads don't seem to make the same power in stock form...
