Re: 02 sensor

If it's like mine, the purple wire goes from the o2 to a single wire plug just behind/under the pass side head, that in turn goes to a "y" in the harness a little further up. From there it goes back to your ECM. I can look when it's light out and tell you the other color wires in the "y". If need be you could run a new one to the ECM.

Was the wire cut near the sensor, or after the connector?

Re: 02 sensor

it was cut at the top and i guess the previous owner of the car just tied it around cable that grounds the engine grounds to the firewall.

Re: 02 sensor

That green wire doesn't look like the o2 wire. The o2 wire is a silver colored wire inside purple shielding. You followed that wire down to your o2 sensor?

Our cars are stupid when it comes to the O2 sensor. I've seen some that never set a code for an unplugged O2 and others that are super **** about it.

It's kind of ironic because our cars are pretty advanced for their time as far as self diagnostic and data streams go.

My EGR is deleted and my SES light never goes off for it but goes off for the O2.

You should have an O2 sensor and have an SES light. I would get one and try to find the connection.

Re: 02 sensor

Mine would not set a code for O2 either the wire was cut and burned. My gas milage was horrable 10 mpg. My collant temp sensor was broken. Previous owner did a number on car. After replacement of that I started getting code for o2. Fixed wiring and then got MPG 20-25.

Re: 02 sensor

Does anyone have a problem with their O2 getting coated in soot? Mine will get coated in less than a day and won't function properly. I am running 3.1 injectors in a 2.8. I am running a little rich but not much. Any way to fix this problem?

The soot indicates that you are running too rich. Black soot is too much fuel.
