Rear main seal
ok. here's the problem. When I drive my car up to 1500rpm, I hear a rubbing sound coming from the back of the engine/front of the transmission. I also have a very slow oil leak between the engine and the transmission. I went on a road test with a mecanic I know that works for Chrysler (he does transmissions) and he says the rear main seal is leaking and is popping out causing the noise. And when I accelerate, the components pull apart just enough to stop the noise.
So do you guys think its the rear main seal, is it hard to do? Is it just removing the transmission and replacing the seal and putting everything back together?
I also have another problem. My oil pan gasket seems to be sweeting. Its full of crud. the crud starts half away on the oil pan and goes all the way to the crank pulley. Do you think it's just the oil pan gasket or more. And to replace it....is the exhaust going to be in my way???? since it bends under the pan.
and I think my shocks are blown in the front, it's starting to bounce a little...
thanks for any help.

Re: Rear main seal
a rear main seal dosent just pop out,and is not ur source of noise, it may be leaking but it wont make noise. to replace it u have to remove the trans and flexplate.
if the oil pan gasket isnt leaking dont bother changing it,
as far as the front "struts" push down on the front of the car 1 time, and see how many times it bounces up and down on its own before it settles, ideally it should go down and come back up, if it bounces 2 or more times its generally time for new ones
