Anyone Have a FWD 3.4 EGR Laying Around?

Need some info off a FWD 3.4 egr. It mounts on the side style. If you have one on a wifes car, or have parted out a 3.4 for its heads and guts, please give me a pm. Looking for some info, and possibly buy it if its for sale.

I think its the same as a 3.1 electronic egr. I have one from a 3.1 spare motor. I cant test it until I put my motor in this week

I can get one here too, just needing to know info about the part before I drive out and buy one. Needing to know if the exhaust gases go in the bottom that I'm not seeing in pictures on line. And is the part where it mounts up to the motor, the out going?

Re: Anyone Have a FWD 3.4 EGR Laying Around?

Ok, the 2000+ EGR, that it sounds like you are describing is a "Linear EGR" and will only work with an OBDII PCM, '96+. '96 is when the Linear EGR started but had a different mount than the 2000+.

Yes the exhaust gasses come in the bottom, well to be more accurate from the side facing the firewall in the FWD application. The port that is facing the throttle neck is the outlet, to allow it to recirculate back into the engine.

If you're wanting to retain the EGR (good on you), then you will be far better off to use your stock EGR (or one that matches the PCM you will be using) and make an adaptor to go between. Depending on the type of EGR you are using, you may be able to use junk yard parts or your stock parts to make it work.
Give a couple more details on what it is you're trying to accomplish and I can help you out.

BTW, I have at least one of each EGR, from the vacuum EGR on the RWD (I think I still have one anyway), vacuum EGR on the FWD, digital EGR (FWD 3.1 and RWD 3.4, not sure what the RWD 3.1 used), and the two different linear EGRs used on the genIII 660s.

Re: Anyone Have a FWD 3.4 EGR Laying Around?

Sixshooter, thanks for the info.

I am installing the TPI intake on my "new" car, but I am controlling it via OBD2(see top post in TPI section). It uses a 5wire EGR. The one that matches this exact setup I am having problems coming up with mounting it with my limited connections and raw fabbing tools (welder, torch, lathe). I was debating if the side mount EGR off a FWD 3.1/3.4 would be easier to install and possibly fit better. Since I just glanced at it in the junkyard, I thought both holes were in the side/mount area. Not one in the mount/side, one in the bottom.

Re: Anyone Have a FWD 3.4 EGR Laying Around?

So the PCM you will be using controls a linear EGR?

I can get you some pics later this week, wouldn't be until at least Thursday when I'm back down in the area that my EGRs are at.

Re: Anyone Have a FWD 3.4 EGR Laying Around?

That would work. But you said it comes in from the other side, rather then the bottom? Wonder if that depends on what year/body it came from.

Nope, they all have the same entry point, from the "rear" towards the firewall in the stock. I just looked at a pic of a 3500 EGR that I will post later, and it also enters from the rear.
