8/25/07 street wars : track day

1st pass i blew the intake pipe off in the burnout box @23 psi - didnt make a run

2nd pass brought boost down to 15 psi hooked on the launch and got about 4 inches under the front tires, got sideways at the 330 and lifted

3rd pass boost back to 21psi left the line @ 19ish and blew the tires off the car and got sideways again - this run got me a warning from track officials that if i didnt keep the car under control i was done for the day

4th pass blew the pipe off again - no run

5th pass turned the boost down to 18psi and left the line @ 15 psi dead hooked and broke the ring/pinion

ill have the videos of the runs up soon as my friend sends them to me

Wow man what a beat day, just be happy you didn't damage anything worse than what you did, i.e. run your car into the wall. You really need to address that intake pipe though.

I gotta get you a picture of what I did for my brother's intake pipe... Its really slick if you ask me... and its free if you use "recycled" parts.

just got back from the shop, and the cars not looking so good.the right rear of the car is saging and ive got a nice crack in the roof on the driverside right were the door/window ends.
it seriously looks like i may have tweaked the frame with the new suspension setup

im hoping that when u cut the frame connectors out of the car i can fix it

notice the stainless worm gear hose clamp I opened and drilled on the throttle body. Has never blown off.

Re: 8/25/07 street wars : track day

hows the bros car doing man???

did u put that .63 housing on it yet?or goten it over 5 psi?
this last time out at the track i was using the brakes+ebrake to hold the rear tires, which alowed me to go wot while staging the car and build alot of boost,u may be able to do the same though i dont knwo how well it will work with a stock converter.
kinda a bitch to release the ebrake and brakes at the same time but it works like a charm lol didnt have to use my antilag once doing it

one word of advice the rubber plug in the back of the tb.put a ziptie aropund the tb neck and the plug, once u start going over 7 psi it tends to blow out the back of the throttle body.
i actually welded the holes up in mine and picked up vacum for those lines from another source

Re: 8/25/07 street wars : track day

I put a few (5) turns on the internal wastegate today. I also did the 500 mile (557 miles actually) oil change, replaced a really leaky valve cover gasket, replaced a burnt plug wire, and relpaced the broken tranny mount. We'll see if the boost increases at all later tonight. I've held the brakes and the gas and didn't get any spin, or boost for that matter. The stock stall (about 2000) is too low to build boost.

My bro is very broke because he plays football for high school and has no time to work. If he wasn't so good at it I'd be upset, but I'm not gonna ruin a potential scholarship (by making him work) over a few hundred bux. I'm starting a new job next Tuesday... so maybe I'll buy a .63 housing in a month or so and just confiscate the car when he goes off to college next summer! I've already told him that the amount of time and labor I've put into his car is worth more than the car itself, haha.

I'll sell my to4e for $120 + shipping.

Good that your bro has such a good sibling . My bro died 2002, he was the only one I had . I like family (suppose that's why I have four kids ).

Would you throw in an inlet and an outlet flange (3/8" mild steel)?

I could do that, but I will have to make them. The ones my friend made went with the turbo pipes. I'll let you know when they are finished .

Hey Dave I have been away from the forum for a while. Last I heard you had just decided not to sell the car. What have I missed?
