heating up, tranny won't go into park and a few more questions
I got my camaro running and it seems to be ok. I drove it just a bit on the road and it had ok power didn't seem like anything to worry about. The brakes scared me more than anything. When I got it back home the car was above 220deg. I noticed my fans weren't coming on. When I turned it off and then turned it back the fans came on. The water, no antifreeze yet, was boiling once the motor was stopped. I noticed the it is low on water so that could have caused it. The engine didn't seem overly warm, warm to the touch but not blistering hot. If I touched the anything attached to the exhuast that was hot.
I also noticed that the hoses that are supposed to hook up to the bottom of the TB was bypassed and that line was pinced shut. I don't see how any water could flow through it. Could that cause it to over heat along with it low on water?
I noticed that I can't get the tranny to go into park. I don't know if I can adjust anything or is the tranny shot? It goes into gear fine and works in all gears with no problems.
When I had the VC off I had a lifter ticking so I tightened it up until it quit but when I tried to turn it a 1/4 turn it started to bog. so I back it off until it smoothed out. I adjusted a few others and the same followed. I gues I did not get to preset the lifters but it seems to be fine. starts everytime and idles great. I do have a little hessitation when I first hit the gas. I can hear a little tick but very minor.
I don't have a timing light so I could be out of time a little. I notice if I turn the dizzy , even a little, the car wants to die. I don't know how much I can move it to change anything.
I wonder if anyone has any vacume lines they want rid of? The junkyards around here are all broke or missing.
