V6 and it's Y-Pipe...

I know this should be in exhaust...but I for some reason when I go to the Exhaust Thread, I get signed out once I'm there. Every where else though, like the V6 section, it keeps me signed in. So I'm gonna post this here, and hopefully a Mod can move it for me ...

So, everyone who knows anything about our cars knows that the Y-pipe put on them is horrible and stupid and no one likes it. Period.

I know V6s aren't in the most extreme need of a new exhaust because if you go much bigger, your torque goes out the door, but...

Would getting that crappy 90 degree angle removed and a smooth flowing angle put in place of it make much difference?

Try using a 4th gen 3.4 y-pipe. It's bigger besides the fact that it really is a wye, and not a tee

And our Y-pipe is ridiculously expensive. 274$ to replace, another 200 to install... When I changed my cat I looked into how much it would cost (Since my flange is leaking) and it was around 500$ if the studs were good. Me being the cheap punk, said no, and I'm leaving it on there..

If the y-pipe is $274 you can buy a set of headers for not much more.

An exhaust shop could make you a custom y-pipe.

RockAuto.com has a Y-Pipe for just over $131. Thats where I got mine when I replaced mine.

Also I dont think that the 4th gen will work on our cars. Yes it will bolt on but I doubt if the exhaust routing is the same.

I don't think Bazooka wants the stock replacement, but rather a merged pipe.

If you could nab more than just the y-pipe, I think it would be a swap with very little modification. I haven't taken measurements or anything, butif it worked I think the gains would be nice.

Yeah. I'm not looking for an expensive replacement. I was thinking more along the lines of cut out where the T weld is, and just have them weld in a section that is a smooth transition.

An exhaust shop could do that pretty easily and it would probably end up being less than a new y-pipe that would be the same.
