Re: gut airbox?

Just cut out the bottom of the box and the water baffles. I have gutted mine and added scoops for a ram-air effect. I have had no problem with it and now my TB makes a loud whistle at half trottle.

Re: gut airbox?

Nope. Not for me and it rains all the time here. I havn't had any problems with rain, then again I have the stock RS grille on the car so it might block alot of the water. I don't think that anyone has complained of rain, those who gutted the airbox that is.

Re: gut airbox?

I did it to mine and I definitly noticed a difference. Especially on the top end. Before it pulled thru 4500-4800rpm, now its more like 5200-5300rpm. The more I "get on it" the better it is now. Also, it just started raining here the past 2-3 weeks and I havent had a bit of trouble.

2.8RS- Thats a sweet scoop setup. How did you make that?

Re: gut airbox?

Old street sign and fivets pretty much. I didn't know this at that time but there is a company that makes a similar setup. I just got bored one day and said what the heck.

Re: gut airbox?

I don't know. I just saw it one day surfing the net. I made mine and I bet you can make your own for alot cheaper. The quality may not be a good but who's going to know?

Re: gut airbox?

See here's the thing with me. I have the TBI air cleaner (on top of a holley carb) going into duct work that leads to the top part of the tpi air assembly. (I don't have the bottom part) However I do have the delete piece from my v6 without the dual air filter setup I really thing i'm going to attach the tpi peice to the v6 and cut two holes to make room for the tpi peice. Then built duct work to "gut" the assembly. Keep in mind i'm not running the TPi filters just the air assembly... here's a pic of what i'm(kind of) going to be running (Thanks to a fellow TGO member)

Now that i've confused everyone thank you for reading my post.
