2nd Radiator Cracked!!

I have replaced my radiator twice this year and I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm thinking since the water pump is in need of replacing this could have caused the issue. But needless to say I have repalced my radiator twice this year. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue before and if so what did you do to resolve it.

Thanks in advance!
Derick

New radiator is in and took it for a drive tonight. On the way back to the house the over flow bottle starting bubbling over again. Not sure what the issue can be now b/c i got a new cap also with the rad. I'm gonna change the thermostat tomorrow and see what happens.

Re: 2nd Radiator Cracked!!

If you are cracking radiators that quickly, then I would seriously suspect a problem with a head gasket seal. What tends to happen is that you get a breech between a cylinder and a water jacket and the compression forces into the cooling system, which are not desined for a sudden 180 psi.

I have seen gaskets break and act as a kind of one-way valve, allowing compression pressure to enter the cooling system, but not letting coolant into the cylinder.

Does your car run a little rough on initial startup in the morning then clean up?

Actually it runs fine. Cranks on first turn and runs as smooth as ever. What it seems like is the stat isn't opening up. I can run it for a good while before it even acts up. What I noticed last night was when I was driving to my dads house the temp gauge read normal about 180. On the way home the gauge barely moved up at all. Thats when I started smelling antifreeze. Now my dads house is about 11 miles from me so the distance was the same there and back. Changing the stat today and making the same ride to see what happens.

thata probably just your cooling system purging out all the air in the system.

Re: 2nd Radiator Cracked!!

Figured out the issue. Fan relay sensor went bad and car was over heating. Ran a switch from inside to bypass it. Pictures to come but problem solved.
