My friend, you have alot to learn, spend some time doing research before you post such a statement, they are two different beasts who share some interior and some exterior parts, SOME. Chevy and Pontiac are 2 totally different companies

Re: wtf

no no no he says the engines are different the tranny is different and the drivetrain is different. i know the exterior is different with a few exceptions and and interior as well the same. but i know the drivetrain in both cars is based off the same platform. the f-body with the same engine and tranny combos available for both with the same outputs for both. this guy is saying the outputs are different.

Re: wtf

Yeah.. i dont know why the majority of the people in this thread say they are different cars? Camaro and Firebird are the same cars.. only difference is body/interior. Same as a GMC Sierra and a Chevy Silverado. Same as Mercury Mountaineer and Ford Explorer. Look at it this way, what is more different, the Differences or the Similarities? Yeah thats what i thought.. People are too harsh.

Re: wtf

the guys that drive camaros want you to know that they are driving camaros and the guys that drive birds want you to know that they drive birds. Otherwise, we would all be driving a cambird or a firearo. If you had a twin that looked similar to you but wasn't you, and everyone said you were the same person... how would you feel?

Re: wtf

the point is that they use the same engine with the same power outputs. for instance this guy was saying that a 5.0 camaro puts out more power then a 5.0 firebird both from the factory with no mods. something tells me thats not right. maybe cause its the same engine. maybe he's thinks that a 5.7 camaro puts out more power then a 5.0 firebird. or a 5.7 firebird puts out more power then a 5.0 camaro. but from the factory with no mods a 5.0 camaro puts out as much power as a 5.0 bird. yes they are astecically different interior and extrior i realize that. but the engine packages are the same in either and only minor suspension differences.

Re: wtf

The bird generally had a more restrictive air intake and were rated about 5hp less the same in a camaro. But as for block, intake, trans, axle.. all the same.

Re: wtf

I saw a half and half car once. Had the front of a Firebird and the rear of a Camaro. Some might say the best of both worlds, I say wrong in so many ways.

Re: wtf

I agree with ksith. If they are different, why are they on the same site? Sure they use different parts...but theyre essentially the same damn thing. If you go through all the f body generations they were pretty much the same also. Isnt a plymouth voyager and dodge caravan the same junk, even though they have different names? Same goes for yukon, escalade, and tahoe...sierra and silverado...only thing is subtle differences that make the vehicle look/appear different to an untrained eye. GM is good at playing that game...nothing against them but they know how to dress up the same thing in different clothes
