I'm in love with the LQ1 Twin Dual cam...
I found a picture a while back, don't remember where, that completely inspired me to do this.
Here's the picture...

Is there a rwd trans that bolts up to this?
I can tackle the accessories/exhaust/wiring myself...

The LQ1 is the most unreliable POS motor I've ever had the misfortune of working with.

You're lucky to keep a head or intake gasket on that motor for 20,000 miles.

From what I've heard the swap is quite difficult to pull off as well.

A t5 v6 bellhousing from a fourth gen 3800 fits, it has the right starter location on the drivers side of the motor. How did you do your engine mounts?

A 700R4 would also bolt up to it fine. the stock flexplate wouldn't work though, 95ish 2.2 S10 would have the correct spacing and be the right size to use the FWD starter.

At least in a RWD config it would be easier to change the alternator on... lol

It's actually an excellent engine, however it's severely lacking in aftermarket. The heads flow an insane amount of air so the possibility is there to make insane power.

Has anyone successfully swaped one of these motors in a fbody? I would like to know what major problems came up. A friend and i want to try this swap in my car. We alredy have a rebuildable 3.4 dohc out of a monte carlo, a t5 bell housing from a 3800 fbody and a obd1 computer from a z34 lumina.

Someone had one in a 4th gen awhile ago but I don't believe it ever actually ran.

So what your saying is that this swap is like finding bigfoot, every one talks about seeing one or building one. But there none of them runing around.

Honestly swapping this engine would pretty much be a waste of time because of how limited the aftermarket is. A newer 60* DOHC out of a cadillac or camaro would be a much better candidate if you really wanted DOHC and probably an easier swap as well since they come RWD.

Just stick a new Camaro v6 drivetrain in it.
