Re: dohc and egr smog

Well I think you are meaning to ask if the DOHC V6 will work...It is a whole different engine so it will be a lot of work. Im not really sure on the EGR or the smog pump on the DOHC v6s, so I cant help you there.
We have covered the DOHC swap before...do a search and check out the old info.

Re: dohc and egr smog

They do stuff...wouldnt be there if the didnt. They both deal with emissions.
The only reason to really remove them is if you put headers in. There is no real gain to removing them.

Re: dohc and egr smog

There is no reason to get rid of the EGR if you particular build allows. The EGR actually lowers combustion temps, and makes less polution. Even headers usually will have the port on them to retain it.

Re: dohc and egr smog

Its not as much as you think. It is actually very little exhaust going into your intake...and it only does it at certain times. It lowers the peak combustion temp inside the cylinders.
You can remove it but you wont knowtice much/if anything. Also if you have a 92 (as you name states) you will have to tune it out of your ECM or you will always throw a code that says its not working.
