port pics

yeah so i know some of ya wanted picks of my machined heads, well these arent the ones on my car,but they are a set im doing for somone local, these are based on my current heads except with more of a stock sized port(i.e no cutting into the waterjackets and rewelding the heads)

first off this is the bone stock port (right side)

and closup of the intake

a typical port job will come out looking just about this

nothing to wild but a good cleanup some metal removal and a nice blend job finished over with a 60-80 grit roll to ruff it up
now heres a more gone threw port job closley resembling mine in the bowl and valve guide area

notice the mount of material removed, and how its blended into the backside of the bowl area.that pic isnt a completed port yet,ive got to find the dam usb cable for my camera and ill upload a few more after i crop them down but those few pics should give u a decent idea, these heads when done will not have the cast vane in the port entrance.
by cutting down the guide and knife edging it u remove the need for the vane and also pick up a decent amount of flow when coupled with the bowl work.though u do have to pay attention in the port entrance area, which ill post up in a bit

Re: port pics

^ He was telling me that he refuses to throw on a chute, and with a best of 9.33 running a T-76, it begs the question of why he would upgrade to a T-88. He's going to force the track to intervene, as the chute will eventually find it's way on there soon. He was already trapping a tad over 150-mph to boot, it's just the matter of time....

Yeah, a steady hand definitely helps in those situations lol....

Should of took a peek last night underneath. Apparently, it's a Cartek/STS custom RMT setup. Killer car either way, and an absolute terror out on the streets I'll bet....

Re: port pics

^ The turbo in the pic is much bigger than mine, and it's something that I'd like to upgrade to (money permitting of course). It's an F1-X piece, with a full 360 degree thrust bearing assembly for added thrust strength....

Aww, everyone's having so much fun with their hairdryers. Makes me wish I had the money to do the turbo build I have planned.

Do you have flow numbers that I could see to support that just removing the vanes like that increases flow? I'd be all for removing them but what I've seen so far has shown that you loose flow if you take them out, but that you can modify the vanes themselves to increase flow.

u can remove them but only if u reshape the upper valve guids properly, the vane splits the air around the stock guide so it dosent hit it,ill s ee if the guy im doing these for will get them flowed or not
