89 firebird-troubleshooting issues

hey all, new to the site, first time posting a thread. I recently bought a 89 firebird, 2.8 v6 for my son. when we first got it the car ran pretty rough, a lot of hesitation. car leaked antifreeze into the passenger compartment. it seems like the car sat for a while. so far i replaced the heater core and did a full tune up. when replacing the cap and rotor I noticed that the distributor was pretty rusty, I cleaned it up as much as i could. car is running much better, but it seems like i'm getting a popping or misfire on acceleration. the ses goes off when driving, then comes on when put in park. I got code 13,23,32 what should i work on first. oh yeah i also found that one of the fuel injector wire harness had been fried, so I replaced that too. I'm sure the #2 cylinder wasn't firing for a while, any suggestions would be awesome.

Re: 89 firebird-troubleshooting issues

I'd start with code 13&32 which is an EGR code and O2.

Re: 89 firebird-troubleshooting issues

New O2 and clean up the EGR or block it off if you can. That should help the car run better.

thanks for the feedback. I found a vacuum hose disconected that seems to feed into the egr.

Re: 89 firebird-troubleshooting issues

The inside of my distributor was very corroded aswell. There's a little seal that goes bad, it's not much work to change, just time consuming..
