Car: 89 RS 89 iroc 87 firebird
Engine: 3.1 Turbo/ 355 twin turbo
Transmission: a4 w/ 4500 stall/ a4 / t5
Axle/Gears: strange s60 /w 3:42's
TURBO 3.1 GOES 13.008 @ 104.65

run 1

9 psi

launch 5 psi and spun (not a big enough burnout)
rt **** -.231
60'***** 1.94
330 *****5.561
1/8th ****8.615
mph *****80.44
1000 ****11.254
1/4 *****13.486
mph**** 101.19

car was way rich so we pulled some fuel

run 2
out of the hole 5 psi and spin again (pushed threw the brakes on the line)

rt ***** -.454
60 ***** 1.834
330 ***** 5.349
1/8 ***** 8.304
mph ***** 83.29
1000 ***** 10.851
1/4 ***** 13.008
mph ***** 104.65

9 psi both runs and the last run was still rich as hell but not as bad as run 1

tried to make a 3rdpass but they had shut down the staging lanes before we could hotlap the car

lil more tunning and the car will be back into the 12.s low boost

this thing is headed for 11 second time slips with 18-21 psi on the small turbo

Nice. How much money do you have in it all so far? I have been thinking about a turbo V6 thirdgen as they are cheap and plentiful in Cali.

i built everything myself but i can give u a basic run down

turbo ebay unit new 150 bucks
wastegate - ebay unit 50 bucks
bov - ebay 25 bucks
volvo 740 fmic - ebay 25 bucks
custom fpr off a fwd buick 3800 10 bucks junkyard
megasquirt standalone system 311 bucks shipped complete

50 bucks in couplers
150 bucks in intercooler tubing
60 in tubing for the downpipe
now the headers are 316l stainless i had this tubbing laying around the shop so it didnt cost me anything but expect to pay around 300-750 just int he stainless for the headers

u dont even need to make headers u can do a custom y pipe that runs under the front k member and up infront of the motor for around 50 bucks

Would you be willing to make a turbo header...and how much? I know how to weld... TIG and MIG...And Oxy, and Arc. So fabricating isn't a problem. I may have to look into this a little more.

opps i forgot 2 things

custom cam 150 bucks
and ported heads dpnt myself so they were free

the headers are easy to make,i really dont have the time to build a set right now(maybe in a month or so),but since u can weld i have detailed pictures of the headers and can even get exact measurememnts on them for u to build ur own

Can you post a picture of the FPR off a 3800? Whats different about it?

I know the one off my GTP is way different and I dont see how it could be fabbed up to fit.

Re: TURBO 3.1 GOES 13.008 @ 104.65

sure i didnt get any pics of it last night but i will try today.

the stock 2.8/3.1/3.4 reguylators are not boost refrenced they will not raise fp 1-1 with boost

the regulator i fabed up off the fwd car bolts in without mods.
u know were the rubber section of hose is for the fuel lines
well if u unscrew the rubber hose there is a male fitting on both of the hard lines.the bottom of the regulator screws into the line on the car and the other end screwes right into the factory line coming off the fuel rail.

i know its hard to picture it without actually seeing it so i will get a picture up as soon as possible

its the same fp regulator thats used ont he grandnationals

So you just blocked the regulator off on the rail? Or you still using that too?

I'll look up a GN regulator.

i also used part of the wfd rail and cut it and welded it back together to make it able to bolt on

Re: TURBO 3.1 GOES 13.008 @ 104.65

ok, you gonna have to supply some pics because where my fpr is on this tpi engine sucks ***. I'm wanting to relocate and this sounds great. But I'm having problems on exactly what to do.

I put this fpr in the send line.
I assume it has its own return? Or returnless?
Delete the stock FPR?

Re: TURBO 3.1 GOES 13.008 @ 104.65

u can leave the stock one(or gut the stock fpr so it does nothing) but unless ur running boost the 3800 one wont do anything for you. unless u buy an adjustable unit then u can adjust the fp without removing the uim.

it installs into the factory return line

when rob calls me back i will see if he happened to grab and pictures of it with his cellphone

I'm just wanting mine outta the way where its at. Also so major hurry on the pics, just next time your around it snap some for me please.

It installs into the return line? Sounds weird at first, but once you think about it, it makes sense.

Re: TURBO 3.1 GOES 13.008 @ 104.65

its getting close to give u an idea of how rich the car is,i was using 86% of my injectors/ now i only need 70% of the injector for the amount of power its making.

so im using 16% more injector then i need wot for an 11.5-1 afr, i was running in between 10.0-10.7 afrs under boost.which is way to rich and deff killing output power and spool time

car will be back on the track next week hopefully

Re: TURBO 3.1 GOES 13.008 @ 104.65

lol 12's will be next time out should have hit 12.90 on that last run but it spun comming out of the hole.

but we all know things dont always go the way u want them to,but 12's will deff be nex time out

we learned alot abou tthe tune and setup with those 2 runs now that i have the wideband and datalogin capabilities (needed a usb to serial adapter for my laptop to datalog)

were really confident that with no boost changes and some minor suspension changes and leaning out the mixture some more we can drop that et anywere from .500-.700 next time out

lol i know and to make matters worse the car isnt posi, i have a full on spool in the rear i count my blessings everytime the car makes it past the 60ft mark since they usually break within the first 10 ft.

i do have a spare 10 bolt and i also have a dana 60 for the car (strange s60)
ive just been putting off putting it in since its alot heavier then the 10 bolt

and a 1.8x is a pretty decent hook though ill be looking for 1.70's or better next time out

Are you allowed to use VHT or do they spray it down with VHT?
