2.8 to 2.8

I don't have much experience swaping and removing motors, What should I do first? I'm swapping 2.8 to 2.8 lame I know but the parts car I bought was like $100 and the motor is in alright shape(mine has a spun bearing I think). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also buy a repair manual. Re & Re of the engine is covered in depth in a repair manual.

Just mark lable and bag everything or lay it out hwo it went so you don't forget. Also take your time.

If your in a garage pull off the hood for more room.
And jack up the car so your not killing your back.
Take care of your back.

Re: 2.8 to 2.8

put down cardboard if you don't have a creeper. I assume your taking out the tranny with it. its a good idea so you can put it on before you try putting the engine back in. drain your tranny so it doesn't spill all over.
start taking apart the easy stuff thats in the way, the radiator is a good start. take out your shifter. your going to have to take off the driveshaft obviously. disconnect all your sensors, cables, evap vacuum lines. take off your main pulley if you want the extra clearance. it'll give you the extra room so you dont worry about hitting the radiator support. there is an engine to body ground on the firewall and back of the passenger side head. unbolt it now, or when the engine is pulled out a little farther for easy access. the last things you should take out before putting the hoist on are the engine mounting bolts and the tranny crossmember.
take it very slowely when taking it out. having a friend or 2 looking for anything hitting is a very good idea.

Re: 2.8 to 2.8

I will admit I took the whole distributor out when I pulled my 2.8. its probably best to take the entire intake off actually. if you have the time, which you should have if your doing this. why not? it gives you a chance to paint the intake or valve covers if you want to.
