throttle body spacer

I was wondering if anyone has bought or played with a tb spacer, I found some for sale on the web but I also do alot of machining and I could just make one I just need to know how thick to go.
Can anyone help.

also an unrelated question, is there a thread with random peoples pic of their engines? I know there is alot with the turbo guys but how about the n/a guys?

Re: throttle body spacer

project89, I read alot of posts by you, and I respect your opinion so I am not arguing but more less just asking you to explain yourself when you say that a spacer is useless?

Re: throttle body spacer

a spacer on a carbed or tbi car will #1 insulate the heat from the carb/tbi unit if its made from plastic or phenolic stuff. it also increases the plenum volume helps with higher rpms & fuel distribution

on a 2.8 /3.1 insulating it from heat dosent help cause ur tb is heated by the coolant in the motor.and even the coolant bypass mod isnt going to give u any hp

2 the increase in plenum size is liek nothing, the size of the hole in the spacer and depth dosent amount to much, even if u did gain anything it would be 1-2 hp and the hassel of moving ur throttle cable and trans kickdown cable to reatach to the tb linkage wouldnt be worth the hassel
