Re: is this supercharger possible

You would have to either make a custom intake manifold or remote mount it. The M90 off of the T-bird would be easier to use. A bunch of V8 guys have done it...search the power adder section, you'll come up with some pics.

Honestly yes you could make it fit, I have seen it. I would not call it the best solution but I am partial to turbos. If you want a supercharger I know Nissan makes a great one, most people at least inn the import world prefer the nissan parts being that they work better on the 60 degree V engines. The reason it works better is that with a fairly simple adapter plate the charger can bolt inplace of the manifold and will use the bosch style injectors.

Re: is this supercharger possible

I am doing a 3.4/3400 swap, considering making a supercharger off the 3400 grand prix's fit, only problem is the intake side would be facing my firewall. Similar concept to what primer91 was saying. If anyone has any input or experience with this send me a pm since I dont want to hi-jack this thread. James

I never knew the 3400 grand prixs came with s/cs. Only the 3800/L67 that I know of.

I believe this is aftermarket, but see what I mean, it would be a big issue with the firewall, and the supercharger would have to be mounted on the drivers side. A supercharger like the L67 has would be alot more practical, but I dont know of one like that for a genIII 3400.

Re: is this supercharger possible

I did some searching after my post. That is the only pic I found. Appears to either be aftermarket, or a GM test mule that only a handful were made(which I read did happen).

The L67 wont fit on a 6/60 w/o hitting the firewall. I already measured

its both, gm played with it and then some aftermarket company picked it up

in the fwd motor ity has to have that long drive snout to fit the supercharger in the engine bay.

for us we have it easy a standard thunderbird m90 will work just remove the ac comprssor and mount it there.the inlet to the supercharger can be brought out the back and under the proportioning valve for the brakes and then run down to behind the headlights

Well I was just planning to boost the 3.4, but thought if I could find one from a 3.4 and somehow make it work that would be cool.

Re: is this supercharger possible

Ya if there is a supercharger on a 3.4 Grand Prix then it's aftermarket. My first car was a 1997 Grand Prix GTP and it was S/C but any before that year, even the GTP trim was N/A

Re: is this supercharger possible

well the supercharger on the 3400 engine was a M62 S/C made by Eaton and they only made 17 S/C kits for that engine. And now they are no longer available or anything. You might get lucky and find one on ebay or find somebody on a forum parting one out.

Also, in regards to the comment about all Grand Prixs prior to 97 being N/A......not quite. In 1990-91 they Grand Prix actually came turbo charged. Its only for those short couple of years but they were turbocharged. The supercharged ones came along in 97 and later.

Thunderbird M90 will crank out some boost and you can port it and get a really efficient intercooler and get around 18psi tops out of it. I have one sitting in my garage and I don't know what I am going to do with it yet because in is so adaptable to every car I own.
