you'd be better off swapping the 5spd from an f body parts car...
if you don't have allot of money, then I wouldn't do this... it's a big undertaking for someone that has never done it before, especially if you don't have cash to get the things you will need that you don't realize you need now...
if your like me and your dead set on doing this regardless of your chances of success without the proper funding... you'll need the transmission, I'd suggest a new clutch and pressure plate kit, but since you don't have money for that...
you'll need the hydraulic system for the camaro, the shifter cables for the camaro, and the shifter itself... you can almost certainly cut out the area where the auto shifter is but you'll prolly wanna buy a boot for it, or rip one out of a junk yard car... or just swap the whole center console... and then will come the joy of drilling through your floor to install the clutch pedal and master cylinder... use grommets so it doesn't leak when it rains... you can look up the correct location of the pedal in inches using a tech manual or just eyeball it with the other pedals before drilling...
seriously though, your best off using another car as your guide, and starting a project of this size without spare cash isn't a good idea... I wouldn't attempt this without $500 on hand, at least...
just my 2 cents, others might have a different opinion though...
either way, good luck...

Grab ALL of the shifter parts, shifter, boot, lower support ring, and ALL. Take the entire brake and clutch pedal set from the donor car, which involves unbolting the hydraulics, which you also want to grab, and the brake booster. Either drill out the other set of holes on the S10 bellhousing for the trans mount, or get a bell from an F-body. When you mount the pedal set, there will be 2 arms that extend down to reinforce the clutch master cylinder's mounting bolts. Use these as a guide as to where you should drill your hole. There should also be an elongated cut in the black firewall pad as to where the M/C goes through. Cut this out, and mark along the firewall as to how you need to cut the hole.
You can get away without a new clutch set TEMPORARILY (which is probably a good thing if you can't drive standard
) if you get a sanding block with some 400 grit paper and use that on the clutch surfaces. However, you also need to get your hands on the RIGHT flywheel, preferably one that isn't all rusted to hell
.Also, you need to get the RIGHT transmission. The S10 trans isn't going to work, PERIOD, unless you want to replace the tailshaft housing and the upper cover plate with the shift rod in it. If you try the S10 trans, I guarantee your shifter hole is going to be up under your dash.

If you do not have alot of money, DO NOT DO THIS. I got into my T-5 swap with a $150 transmission from a camaro that came with such annoying things as the pedal assembly... I still didn't get OUT of the swap without throwing in another $500 misc crap like fresh hydraulics.
The S-10 transmission isn't going to work either, btw. Shifter's in the wrong position on the housing. Got one of those laying around too.

Ooohh... I dunno. Nobody seems to want to buy her. Can't blame 'em after all the custom hacks I've done. I'd practically need to write my own manual on her for anybody to get her running again. I'm thinking about bringing the 3.4 up to tucson, rebuilding it, getting it running on a stand, and fabbing new exhaust, working over a pair of heads (got 4 spares), fabbed intake manifold and plenum..... might see boost again yet.. someday... I gotta find something to do or I'm gonna end up starting to mod the 3800.. not good for a daily driver.

I agree with the above... The Transmission out of the S-series truck has the shifter too far forward on it. The shifter would be coming out about where the radio is! These things are top-loaders, so it can't be moved.
The best thing to do if you want to swap to a 5-speed is to find a donor car in a Junkyard, and get EVERYTHING you need from it.... Transmission, bell housing, pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder, hydraulic hose, clutch slave cylinder, flywheel, trans mount, computer, shifter, console, boot, etc...
I have swapped from an auto to a manual in an older truck before... And that was a pain in the you-know-what too. If it were me, I'd just forget it and put my money into something else on the car that would make it more enjoyable to drive.

i'm with everyone else, that you should buy a parts car with a blown up engine and use that to get all your parts. depending on the car's condition, you might be able to find one around 400.
