one my #4 cyliner (i think its number 4 its the middle one one the drivers side) im not getting spark at all and if i move the wire to another terminal i the dizzy i get good spark. does this mean i have a bad dizzy cap? (im a little short on funding and time and i dont want to spend money on a part that wont fix my problem.)

 

pull the cap and try to clean it instead of buying one

electrical contacts usually corrode, looks like this but i doubt your dizzy would be this serious. just spray it with some contact cleaner and rub it with some sandpaper if that is your problem.

 

cap and rotor should cost under 20 if you end up buying one.

 

sorry i haven't had a chance to get on for a few days i took of the cap scraped of the corrosion with screw driver put it back on and everything was fine it ran good and idled good so i guess everything ok, thanks

 

I know how it is with cash being short but I would recommend cap, rotor, wires and plugs. It will make a huge difference. Sometimes those caps crack and let in moisture. It seems to just find its way in there.
I learned my lesson about buying the cheap stuff too. I once but cheaper parts(even with lifetime warranty) and they didn't last that long. Yes they were warranteed but who wants to keep changing them out?
