Intake Swap Question

I'm looking to swap the stock 3.1L air intake (L-shape, cylinder filter) for a V8 or old 2.8L dual snorkel intake.

I only have one question though, what do I do about the sensor that plugs into the air box on the stock 3.1L intake? Can't leave it unplugged can I?

Re: Intake Swap Question

There will be a hole in the box for the air temp sensor, obviously...

Re: Intake Swap Question

maverick is right, the sensor will go right in the other air intake. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to do.

Re: Intake Swap Question

Might be hard to see, but the sensor is on the top center of the picture.

Here's the link to the original picture (scroll over the picture to find a note that locates the sensor)

Re: Intake Swap Question

Only the 2.8l Y type air cleaner intakes will have the opening for the IAT sensor. The TPI air cleaner intakes don't have it.

To move the IAT from the cannister air cleaner to the Y air cleaner the wires need to be extended. If you don't do this right away leave the IAT plugged in and secured (ty-wrap) in the area of the old air cleaner.

Note that you will also need a filler piece between the Y air cleaner and the rubber tube from the TB. In the picture above the MAF fulfills this role.

RBob.

Re: Intake Swap Question

Hm, where are you located? And how much would you charge?

Plus, I think I need the bumper with the slits in it to let the intake function properly. Either way, I'm still interested, one has to come before the other.

Re: Intake Swap Question

Woohoo, road trip! Too bad I'm in the Pacific Northwest or I would tag along and check out that beast of a V6. Oh, and not to mention my car is torn apart.

Re: Intake Swap Question

Okay sounds good. i'll save up some cash and get back to you. If someone wants to take it off your hands in the meantime it's okay, I might be a while.
