Shhhh I'm concentraten

So since i did the H and I gaskets and new plugs
she was running rich
couldnt time 'er she liked say around 24°

hmmm why
bad plug wire set
no 2 was broke just behind the clip in the boot
(*edit::also gapped the ungapped plugs which were close to gap NeHayz
I kinda pre gapped them with a crappy gauge)

hmm that was better
so i time 'er again she wont go to 0° just dies when i get close
so i set it on 4° she runs but still out of time a little lag

so wait the batt is not charging right

hmmm now i member the pop when i disconaked
the magnetic fluxer to ionic storage thingy
seems i loosened the batt post
(broke it really so it had at best intermittent contact)
on the magneto(i know alternator)

wow new shiny alternator

she runs
hmmm doesnt want to run right
starts great wants to surge slowly
gets warmed runs bitchen for a while then gets a miss
for a bit(like an intermittent power connection)
stalls at low rpm hard to restart
that was the last couple of days
this morning no freaking spark(well a few sparks like maybe 5 it tried to start and one was when i had tried to discharge the coil myself nothing no spark then when i hit start i got one visible spark)
no sparks from the dist none from the coil
i have power to the coil
also the SCM was replaced for no reason a few years back
i checked the wires from the coil to the SCM good
Where can i check for a signal from the Dist also from the ECM that would help isolate my spark probs????????

check out this spark http://www.sandia.gov/media/images/jpg/Z02.jpg

Re: Shhhh I'm concentraten

What you do is, peel back the end of the plug wire from the coil to the dist. and put your tongue on it, have someone start your car for you and see if you get electrocuted. Kidding, it was a little hard to understand what you were trying to say. You're saying you have power to the ignition coil, but not to the distributor?? or SCM(Spark Control Module??) What??

Re: Shhhh I'm concentraten

Okay, have your ignition control module tested then(Take it to autozone or advance). And I would change the pickup coil also(it's so cheap, might as well put a new one.)

Hey Thnx for ur advice Charky
i am gonna try to use the freq function on my DMM
(thats Digital Multi-Meter for 383 roller rockers ha he is fast)
to see if the coil connection is grounding when I turn 'er over
i may denergize the coil myself again from the pin that goes to C on the SCM(which is a mosfet that goes to ground just like points which most kids have never heard)

across the coil from the coil tower to ground also across the coil i read like 8.something k

Re: Shhhh I'm concentraten

compared to an accel coil it is close
.3 Ω for the pri my coil is 1.1 Ω
8.8k Ω for the sec 8.8k Ω

Re: Shhhh I'm concentraten

i was wondering can i check the C wire from the Dist to the coil for a signal, it is the tach wire also I presume?
In the Haynes manual the 2.8 schmetoad(sorry my bad schematic)
says(or "shows" for those who cant hear color) that the tach wire is connected to the Negative side of the coil as well as the C wire that goes to the SCM ,which is also the same basic setup for some other GM(i think this for GUV Muunee) motors!
What type of signal should i expect?
I am miles from the part shack, so making sure that the part i need is relavant to the diagnostic algorithm, hence my need for relavant expert feedback.
If I can tech it backwards(the problem of no spark)
with faith I can fix it!
I am taking the SCM to the Zone to test, who knows if it's good or
bad they can say anything really!
You know also what if it is something else malfunctioning or not malfunctioning
Seems like there are alot 3Gns in the world some has to know how to trace the ignition circuits easily, right?
Thnx NE1 for your knowledge!
Yall leave 383roller be!
If he needs to belittle his High and Mighty *** in front of everyone then has that right also
It is not like he really said NEting smart hahahah NEting that was funnie
you know the superficial type very shallow there one minute gone the next hahahah
That how I'm hearing it
Next time just fix a car problem or keep your keys quite
and you want get Smacked by other readers or me
