3,1 FireBird engine instead of 2,8 Camaro engine

Hey guys,

can somebody tell me if I can swap the newer 3,1L engine of a 91 firebird in an 89 camaro that had a 2,8l engine in it?

Backround is, i got a 88 camaro that has a broken engine for less, and I have a wrecked 91 firebird sitting in the backyard with a good engine.

Is it possible to just change the engines and ecm and it will run???

Thanks for your help, Rob

Should be an easy swap. There will be some differences in emissions stuff, but I think thats it.

Should be the easiest swap possible (minus another 2.8).

Just take all the externals off the 2.8, put em on the 3.1, drop it in, and your off n running. Literally is that easy.

Recommended to replace oil pumps if your going to disassemble a block. I did a 2.8 to a 3.1 swap replaced all seals, oil pumps, and sensors on the block it self like the oil pressure sensor, checked and replaced the timing chain.
