"Decel Valve"

There is a part that took me 6 hours to find what it was i went to 3 shucks and 2 chevy dealerships to find out the broken and "poor man Fixed" was a deceleration valve that is discontinued and isnt for sale anymore... So i was wondering where can i get one that will work for my car.

The guy said that it is only in the manual V6s and it maybe in V8s but he wasnt sure...

Please help thanks

Re: "Decel Valve"

Never heard of the 'Deceleration Valve' before. Every car has an idle air control valve, and that usually has the function of regulating the idle on a car. Why would another valve be needed?

No vehicle I've ever worked on had a valve like that on it. I notice that you are from Washington State... Could that be a california emissions thing?

Re: "Decel Valve"

i looked in a chiltons manual and it says it came with the car and the dealership says it did too...

What exactly does an idle air control valve do?

Re: "Decel Valve"

The Decel valve shunts extra air into the intake from the air filter to help control that burst of gasoline and hydrocarbons that is generated when a driver with a manual transmission releases the gas suddenly and steps on the clutch, whether to stop or change gears. At least, that's what my FSM says. I have never seen one, but then, I've never looked, either. And yes, it was only in the manual trans-equipped cars.
The IAC is the thing that acts as the idle speed screw/choke plate on a carburetor by opening and closing to regulate the amount of air that is bypassing the throttle plate at idle.

What is wrong with your car that you think you need a Decel valve?

Re: "Decel Valve"

It was broken and someone tried putting silicone all over it.

It was just all messed up i bought one for another car and i think it will all work out.
I just have to make some hose lines to fit differently because the hoses attach differently on these ones.

I have leaks and one of them was there but i need to find the other ones haha

My car just when i start it doesnt work till i warm it up like it dies over and over and then once i warm it up it idles really high like 15 or 20 but it irradically goes up then goes back to 10 then slowly up to 20 and repeats

But yea im just trying to get the last out of this car till i drop in a 327 i bought the car for 600 and now ive spent about 1200 so for a running pretty good shape car it was just alot of work haha

Re: "Decel Valve"

Arrow on left is pointing at decel valve arrow on right points to air pump. (No hose attached just venting into engine) Circled is a hose hanging from middle connection of decel valve Top hose meets the back of intake and turns into brake boost on other side Bottom hose missing I have a very high idle after pressure washing engine just tryna figure out where those hoses are supposed to go and if they could be the cause of the vacuum leak
