Re: rear hatch

the rear wiper was an option for just a couple years and finding one could be a real pita the wiring shouldnt be too hard I had one wired to a toggle switch the only problem was i had one speed. In Michigan huh ? I grew up in Port Huron and lived in little ol Caro for a while before coming south I think the salvage yards would have what your looking for it might judt take a while so be patient!

Re: rear hatch

I think it was available only in the early 80s on the SE birds and certain Camaros. I think it only had intermittent and only one constant speed. I know youd need a special trim piece to cover up the wiper motor.

Re: rear hatch

Yeah, I know there were some camaros with them, although I dont know what years exactly. For some reason I'm picturing one on a car that also had the 3rd brake light mounted outside the glass, and I think that was only 86 with that light so maybe around 86 or so you'd find one. I'm thinking it might not be worth it without rear defrost though. I live in Minnesota so unfortunatly I have way to much experience with with winter snow/ice/sleat and without defrost/heat for your windshield in the winter, the wipers can't wipe all that crap off without melting it first so, it might not help much.

I'm not to sure but I recall reading something about the wiper available only until 1984? I heard the motor dies fast though.

Re: rear hatch

I'm guessing that you may also want the rear defrost because many times it fogs up from the inside out. It's also not going to work very well if there's frozen ice on the glass.

If you do find either one try to get the wiring and controls. It will save a lot of work/headaches on the installation.

Edit: Rain-x may help with the outside and there's also an anti fog you can try on the inside, but I've never used it though.

Re: rear hatch

Here's one for sale, and it's in Michigan for ya. looks like the sellers been haggling with someone over it, but if you can pick it up rather than making him ship it he light let you buy it.
