Put the cluster back in place, then grab the cable and push it onto the speedo head until it snaps into place. The clip can be seen in the following pic:

Here's are some pics that may be more helpful:

The metal housing goes over the speedo head and the ridge on it seats under the clip seen later in that link and above in the my first link.

is ther something i should have removed to be able to do this? i cant get my hand back ther to get it to snap on. the only thing i was able to do was to get the cable to sit on the thing but ony that didnt make the speedometer work.

just so you know i have everything still attached. the dash the steering wheel only stuff i took of was the stuff to pull the gauges out enough to replace the bulbs. i never really took it COMPLETLY off

and btw i was just curious do the colors of the bulb holders mean anything? sum green some black etc? jw

Remove the kick panel beneath the dash, lay on your back and look up. Locate the cable and push it on.

If you look closely on the bulbs, you'll note that some are 164 and some 194. IIRC, the green are 194, the black 164.

Re: speedometer?? anyone wunna help me out.

In the back of the speedometer there is a small metal spring clip that actually catches the cable and holds it in place. Is the spring clip intact on yours? You should have had to push it in to remove the cluster. The first time I removed mine I thought it was stuck and tugged on it, breaking the clip.

edit: Also, make sure the metal end on the shield of the speedo cable is tight, on my brothers car the metal end seperated from the shield and his speedo stopped working.
