Re: what you paid on V6!?!

if you'r asking us what we paid, I paid $900 for a car in much better condition than that, but I think I got a heck of a deal. you don't see many v6/t5 cars come up for sale, so if that's what you want, go for it

post some pics, let us see what you came home with

here's mine

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

I think I have seen another post similar to this somewhere in the forums. 400 for mine. Runs and drives great but it needs interior and bodywork. Plenty of rust but I have removed most of it. Its sitting in my garage waiting to be finished.

I paid 200. Needs fuel tank and fuel sending unit but i am builting it to be a strong daily driver. So i am replacing brake lines rebuilting the gear box and master cylinder along with replacing suspension componets. so it was a good starting price.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

$800 for an 88. No power options, no air conditioning, and t-tops.No rust, only a couple of door dings and pretty good paint. The trans is shot, but a friend of my dad's did it for the cost of the parts. Interior was really dirty, and it needs a bunch of TLC. It's my 14 year old son's first car.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

I got mine for FREE hahah! No one bought it for me, my Grandfather just gave me the car since he has no use for it anymore. It needed a fuel pump, gas tank, fuel pump relay. All thats done. Next is tires, brakes, paint, interior and a nice clean up. But the best part is my Grandfather said he would pay for the parts as long as I fix the car up myself

Forgot to mention that on my son's $800 car, it also had a new battery in it and a mint passenger side exhaust manifold in the back.

You willing to sell either manifold, provided neither has the AIR fitting by the EGR mount?

Paid $1k for mine and know I got ripped off. Needed paint, tires, vacuum lines, ECM, fuel injectors, had to install a cat and get rid of the "test pipe" to pass inspection along with both front brakes, also had to replace the engine crossover pipe PO somehow broke in half right where the pipes come together under the engine, both tailpipes welded to Flowmaster muffler crooked, engine died within a year (partly my fault but PO was the one who broke the air dam off of the front and caused it to overheat all the time), trans died a year after that, have one bent ARE rim I can't replace because these are hard to find (didn't get any factory rims with the car and all 4 tires were not the right size) and only got 3 center caps with these rims, interior is still crap (one lower rear seat cover torn to shreds along with the upper on the same side and the other not much better, HUGE rust stain under pass side floor mat that I can't get out, console was completely junk along with the radio pod, dash was cracked, most has been replaced with the exception of the front seats and carpet), leaking weatherstripping, hatch pulldown was broke and hatch was left partly open, has a crappily replaced pass side quarter panel, both fenders were replaced along with both bumper covers and the pass side fender still has a monster dent in it, driver's door inner panel cracked due to window motor, driver's mirror was missing the control stick (don't ask why as I still don't know). And the icing on the cake... The lock rod for the pass side door was INSIDE the door panel when I bought the car, meaning the pass door didn't lock. And I could easily turn the ignition lock WITHOUT the key, which was very badly worn to the point it only had one bump left on it.

Seatbelt recall was never performed, either. And both front receiver guide/cover things were cracked and broken. And haven't been replaced.

But I did get a relatively new battery, starter, and, supposedly, a fuel pump! GTA door panels are in sad shape, however.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

I was told the pass manifold was cracked so I pulled it to put the replacement on, turns out 4 bolts were broken. The pass ones I have both have the EGR mount. I think I want to hang onto my spare for now. Mav, I started a thread for this car last night. Its running rough and i'm looking for some advice. Its under rough running 2.8

Just posted there. Really wish I could find one of those manifolds, though. Been looking for a while and can't find one without the AIR bung... As that's the major thing that keeps coming loose and creating a leak .

I gave $525 for my 89 V6/T5 Firebird and If I can ever get the thing to run right with the tired 2.8 again I will swap a 3.4 in it and use it as a daily.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

Speaking of Free cars, I talked to a friend who has an 87 or 88 Camaro rs and he was gonna scrap it,but I told him I'll take it.Thats another good come up.
I'll take pics of it next time I go over, it needs a few parts like tail lights and a wheel in the driver rear(Its sitting on a spare tire,) the only thing it needs is a Battery and gas.

I paid $300 dollars for a 92 Firebird 3.1/T5. The engine had a spun rod bearing, but I got a complete motor with the deal. It was originally a PA car. The only thing it needs now is tires, brakes, and a driver side fender because someone didn't know how to use a car dolly.

i picked up my '86 berlinetta 2.8 t-top for 700 bucks. someone had it sitting in the yard for 4 years. didn't even transfer the title from the sale 4 years ago.
not the prettiest. needed front suspension rebuild, and tranny only made it another 6k miles before i had to rebuild.

this is what it looks like after about 1200 dollars in parts.not too bad

$800, needed a new Throttle position sensor(went thru 3 in a year of having the car), took off cat. converter, needs new fuel tank (previous owners drilled 4 holes into it trying to install an amplifier), and a little body work and paint and that should do... oh i also had a flowmaster muffler put on

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

So I paid 3900 3 weeks ago for my 88 Firebird with a 2.8. I know I know but hear me out...I have been looking at every 3rd gen around the Columbus area for about 3 months and found nothing but major issues everywhere I turned. I finally decided I was going to buy a 91 TA for 2300 that needed paint and some minor work like interior and moldings. I was just about to call the guy to make the deal when I decided to look at new listings for that day. Thats when I found the car I have now. This car is all original with a laundry list of new to include paint, brakes, battery, alternator, exhaust (still replacing for better sound), tires, rims refinished etc etc etc...still has the original T Top bag. So basically I spent the money up front that I would have spent anyway on resto.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

My Mom paid $10,000 for my 87 back in 1989. It was her daily driver up until 1998. I got it for my 21st birthday, when she bought a 92 RS... I'm working on getting that car too.

I'm now thinking about putting the 87 back (close) to stock, including a V6

i got my 87 sport for 450 bux.. all i need is a timing chain. body isnt in too bad shape. paint job is good cept for 2 bondo's areas. came with a custom stereo with an amplifier and a kicker.aftermarket hood and aftermarket rims. interior is in great shape aside from the discolored carpet. 8ball shifter. and a decent genuine chevy decal on the rear window. picture is in my album if you want to see it. judge for yourself. i think its worth it

$1000 for my 87 2.8 % speed camaro. Has t-tops, no a/c, no power windows or locks, no headliner, usual wear and tear on seats. Everything operational. Runs well(except for the fact that its got a fuel problem- 9 MPG). No rust, alright paint job, dings on hood.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

Seriously where is everyone finding all these cheap cars?! Whenever I see a third gen camaro for $500 it either has no engine or trans and an f@$^ed up interior or it has a V6 that needs a tune up and a shot tranny with a messed up inside and outside.

Re: what you paid on V6!?!

I saw an 5 speed 88 firebird for $700 two days ago.. I wanted to jump on it, but I didn't. I've already got a 5 speed v6, and couldn't really come up with a reason to get another one

it's gone as of yesterday

damn is there any possible way just to transfer the name to me?
cant I just tell the dmv i found it in the desert field?
dont really think its illeagal, unless you get caught, lol.

buy the vin #s plates, and a title off a wrecked one from a junkyard, preferrably as close to the one without a title and change everything out.

dunno if it works or not, but its what i always thought i would do if i stole a car, lol. but that was when i was a teenager, haha. not quite a teen anymore.

good luck
