i currently have an 83 2.8 5 speed s15 and i would like to swap in a 91 3.1 v6. I bought the engine off craigslist, it was the complete engine, intake, tb, dist, injectors, manifolds, and accessories. The guy didnt have the camaro anymore so i couldnt get the harness or ecm. my question aside from those two obvious parts, what else do i need? im going to use my fact tranny, so im going to guess fuel lines, some sort of throttle cable, fuel pressure regulator...? does the ecm i get have to be for a 3.1 or will any 2.8 one work? alot of maros in the wreckers by me but all of them say 2.8 on them. also does it matter if its a auto or 5 speed ecm? thanks for any help

 

i have an ecm for the 3.1 mpfi its out of a 91 firebird if you need it , let me know

i dont have the harness but i do have the case it goes in too

i dont know what they go for but shipping in the lower 48 is around 12-15 bucks from my location
but ide have to check the numbers to make sure

 

well i emailed the guy and he says he did take the harness and ecm but doesnt know if he still has them, so im waiting to see if he does which would be awesome. but if he doesnt what are you looking to get for the ecm? no harness but the case it goes into? whats that

 

also since my truck is an 83 it has a cable clutch as opposed to a hydro clutch, does anyone know if the 91 3.1 will work with it? i know the 3.4 supposedly wont work with it. id really hate to have to convert my truck

 

because of shipping i would have to say around 50 thats just ballpark

i have the wiring ( most of it) that comes out of the ecm

i have complete the wires going to the plug that goes under the driver side dash.all the pigtails, the pigtail goin to the engine comp. has been cut ill post pics

 

the wires that are cut are for the tcc lockup and speedo. the rest of the cut wires go to the connector on pass side kick panel. all you would have to do is get the harness from the engine and splice in a new connector,( my connector was junk) i can send it all

 

in the first pic all the wires with blue tape go out the pass side to engine comp
the only wires you will need to rerun are the 4 for the tranny, there is plenty of wire commin out of the plugs to run new wires ( 4 of them) if you want these too .let me know. the only thing missing is the connector to go out to the eng.
