Spark Plug Question!
I Am replacing them. Putting Bosch platunum plus 4 in. The old ones are smaller than the spark plug socket that I have.
Is it cool to take the old ones out with plyers? any problems with that? It dont matter if i damage anyway.
THANKS

Re: Spark Plug Question!
Waste of money. I ran those for a few years, but changed them out early because they sucked so bad. Go to any auto parts store and get the $2 ac delco cheapies. Much cheaper, much better.
Remove them any way you want, just don't drop anything in the spark plug hole (especially those +4 plugs
). Also, a plug wrench is nice for getting the new ones in too. And you can put it on a torque wrench and get them to factory spec.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
You can also try to fish them out with some vacuum tubing. Just get the size that will go over the plug just enough to get a firm grip.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
Best advice I could give is use Delco plugs. It's like using motorcraft plugs in Fords. They were designed and built for their perspective engines. I tried those gimmick plugs and they dont do anything but make your wallet lighter. If you want your GM engine to run good, use Delco's. Want your Ford to run good? Use motorcraft's.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
I'm surprised no one suggested he just go and buy a spark plug socket, I'm 95% sure that there's only two sizes used, easiest way to get it out.
And yeah, generally most of the forumgoers agree that AC delco is the way to go, personally I got performance oriented AC delco rapidfires.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
The 2.8's and 3.1's etc use a 5/8 hex. As for nobody mentioning getting a spark plug socket, that is pretty much common sense. If in a pinch just use a 5/8 deep well. Just have to be very careful about damaging the new plugs because the rubber insert is not there.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
My dad had put in the bosh +4's back in the 90's I believe along with 8mm wires in the camaro and he said the car had a bit more pep to it but I removed all that and went back to cheap Ac Delco and stock wires. My dad went from the cheap Ac Delco's to the rapidfires in his s10 blazer 4.3 and he's much more happier with them . Ac Delco is the way to go IMO.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
AC Delco's and Bosch were for some reasom crap in my car. I went with NGK's and it performs a lot better. No two engines are the same in my book.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
Yea its 5/8. I removed the old ones (def needed to be replaced) With ease and put the Bosch 4's in. So I took it for a run and it felt like it had some more power. about 10 minutes in. I could tell that one of em were't firing. I checked the wire to make sure they were on there securley. etc. Still wont run on 6. think its possible for the plugs to be that shitty? only last ten minutes? im gonna preplace the wire next. if it still doest work ill get the Ac Delcos.

Re: Spark Plug Question!
Anyways, getting to the problem at hand, check to make sure one of the wires isn't grounded out against the exhaust. Also check to make sure the boots are all tight on the dizzy and the plugs. Check to make sure you didn't cross any wires. Check to make sure the plugs are tight in the bores.

Take a look at that microscopic tip on those botch plugs you have compared to a normal plug. It's like trying to push the volume of a garden hose through a straw. And that's without carbon buildup.
