Coil Springs?

Still making the rebuild parts list... One of the things I'm sure isn't going back into the car are the front coil springs. Because the front sits WAY too high on the front tires. I currently have no A/C and a manual trans. I thought the front sat high before I dumped the 700R4, but it went up further after the swap. I'm looking for lowering springs that will give me roughly a 1.25-1.5" drop, if I were going to be running my iron boat anchors. I'm thinking that this should be close to right since I am going hybrid.

My question is, who is running what springs and what kind of ground clearance do you have? I'm not looking to cut my stock springs, either...

A second question... What would the weight difference be between the 2.5 Iron Duke and a hybrid 3.1/3100? I was also thinking that if I could find some stock 2.5 springs that maybe those would work?

Hmm. I'll wait on the measurements. Funny how yours is in the same position mine is in right now. Except mine has a few hundred less parts . I figure it'll take about 5 more sanding discs before I can do anything else. Plus a powerwasher for the grease on the belly .

Re: Coil Springs?

:edit:

Found a couple of charts through Google... I think I'll start with the S10's Moog 5658 springs and cut from there...

Re: Coil Springs?

Ive had Dropzone springs on my car since like 03. You can do a search on here for them, I know ive posted some info on them in the past. In one of the replies I have on here I have the contact info, since theyre not the easiest to find on the net for some reason, but i highly recommend them.

I did a Google search last night and found this: http://www.hotrodbuick.com/springs.html

Everything I've looked at says that the 5658 springs generally drop about 1.5", and they're not $200+. Advance carries them for $77. I've been trying to find something with a decent drop and keeps somewhat the same spring rate when dropped. And I'm only looking for the front springs as my rears sag the same distance (.5") on both sides. Plus the front is already higher than the back.

Re: Coil Springs?

I tried dropzones for a while too but I didn't like them. I may put the front back on now that the hybrid's in and the front is in the sky.
