Well, 1 guy I talked to paid $90 (including the kit) for a B&M kit to be installed. I think the B&M goes for $25-30?? Therefore, I would GUESS it would run you about $60 for the install.

Installing a shift kit isn't all that bad.Actually it was pretty easy. With some help from Tom P that is.
I'm not sure of what the difference is between the B&M and Trans go,but if you read the instructions from cover to cover you can do it yourself and have the personal satisfaction of doing your own mod.

$90?!?!?!?!?!? He was sleeping with his tranny man or something... It's not hard to do yourself at all, but I'd charge a lot more then $90 to do it... All the places I called said they'd charge about $3-$500, so I got scared into doing it myself. Wasn't too bad at all really. I got the B&M, and miss it dearly (have a crap trans on there now, waiting for my B&Med one to get a performance rebuild and further mods). The directions that come with it very therough, so I'd say try it yourself.

With a tranny fluid change I was quoted 150 when I looked into it, but then my tranny blew and I bought a new one and put the kit in then

$3-500 for a shift kit is outrageous, dude. Are you talking about a full rebuild kit? Like Kevin S said, the shift kit is cake, and can be done with the trans in the car.

i still have to advise against a shift kit, they just put more wear and tear on your tranny.. take it to your local tranny shop and ask about shift kit alternates, for around 100 bux they can do a valve body job using corvette parts, which is a lot healthier than a shift kit, and youll get better performance than one too..

I was told a shift kit helped the tranny last LONGER.

I posted a message about this a few months ago, and supposedly because a shift kit allows less slip, the tranny runs cooler, and therefore, longer.

Is this wrong?

No, you're right, that's the general agreement, but the trans has to be in pretty good shape when the kit's installed. Otherwise, what Scoob said is right.

Just for the shift kit, I swear. I know it can e done in the car. I spent a whole day down there doing it!!! If I had had a lift, it would be a 2 hour job. Homw much would all that corvette servo stuff cost? I"m getting my tranny pretty much custom rebuilt, it WILL have a B&M shift kit, and deep pan, and probably TC, too. Any recomends on stall speed? Also if those corvette parts are worth it?
