Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
im not very mechanically inclined, but i gotta do it myself. its my first car, and im gonna try to do everything i can by myself, or with my dads help. but ive heard that bending a 15mm wrench is the easiest access point to the bolts....

Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
do a quick search on it and youll find a lot of diffrent ways to do it
i did it with the motor out and it sucked pretty bad, took a few hours and two people to make it a bit easier

Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
theres another method where you can pull your suspension apart but its not easier.
you have to jack the motor up to get the mounts out also
my advice to you is jack the car up toss some stands under it and look at how you have to get to the mounts and decide if you can do it or not, once your under there you may change your mind. if your not careful the nuts from the mounts can fall in your frame rail lol
you can probably do it just take your time and dont plan to have it done in one day if your not great at this kind of thing yet

Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
its a million times easier with the front suspension removed, since you access the nuts through the a-arms pockets in the k-member. You can do it without, but its a nightmare, and a simple bent 15mm wrench wont do it all. I use a handful of tools, extensions, swivel joints, crows foot wrenches ect. Its no fun, and i had the engine out when i did mine.

Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
turns out that it was actually my air intake causing all the strange rattling.... i found a guy that wants to help me change my mounts for 50$ tho.
Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
I have done it on a hoist, but it is a PITA! You need a swivel headed ratchet wrench and have to reach through a hole through the K member or A arm- I forget which- while working two other wrenches. There were two of us- I don't have 3 arms... If you can get it in the air and support the engine AND have help, it can be done.

Re: V6 Motor Mount replacement
I replaced the motor mounts in my 3.1 with the motor in. I jacked the car up and put it on stands. I then removed the control arms, struts and coil springs. I used various sockets, extensions, and articulating joints to loosen the bolts. Next I raised the motor with the jack via the harmonic balancer. I then removed the mounts and drilled ot the rivets. I then inserted the new poly mounts placed the bolts throught the shell and worked on getting the nuts back onto the back of them. I repeated this for the other side. I had a hard time getting the motor to line back up with the mounts. I got one side and after a series of lowering and re-jacking the motor I was able to get the other side lined up. I torqued the motor to mount bolt to spec and just tightened the bolts in the K member as tight as I could (no way I would be able to get a torque wrench in there). I then re-assembled the suspension. I had the mounts done in under a day and finished up the suspension the next day.
