yes they did actually, and i could be wrong on this one but im pretty sure posi is a pretty much standard option on all fbodies, if your only spinning one tire theres a good chance that the clutches in your rear end are shot (they do go bad after time, that ammount of time depending on how you drive and how well its been maintained)

i know they weren't standard..but the rear end went in before the motor, so how could it not be an option?

i'm sure it was an option. i've got a friend with an 87 firebird, he said that he blew up his engines by doing burnouts, the other thing he says is that it used to leave to tiretracks, but i can't get him to do a burnout for me to test it out. But he claims that he has two wheels turnin' now as far as options. my car got nearly every T/A option, except power windows and locks, and in 85 ground fx weren't available on non T/A's. But i've got the overhead compartment, premium sound, and that beautiful v6. so i think you could have one, it'd proabaly be rare though.

I'm pretty sure most 3rd gens came with posi. but after a while it starts to wear out, for example by powerbraking.

Graeme's,

Move this over to the History/Restoration board. Willie should be able to help you out.

But I am virtually positive no V6 ever had posi. Example: 4 wheel disc brakes required the limited slip. The limited slip required a 305. This is an indirect quote from the Camaro White Book. Plus, limited slip was never put on more than 29,000 Camaros in 1 year, normally around 15-20,000. I can virtually guarantee with that little production, these were 8's, not 6's.

Check your option code sheet in the glovebox. If you have RPO G80, then you have limited slip. If it ain't there, you don't
