Code 55

My SOS light came on and my car is stalling at mid rpm, basically if u give it any gas it will drop to 1k rpm then pick back up. When I was driving back from work the SOS light didn't come on and it was fine. I'm going to look for shorts but could it be a bad ecm?

55 can also be a prob with the egr. Is yours vac or digital?

Re: Code 55

My egr is vacuum, I don't have it hooked up. It's been that way for year now no problem. How can i check to see if its my egr or ecm. I drove to work and back and no SOS light.

Re: Code 55

It's not your egr then. Check your grounds & tps.

Re: Code 55

My tps was set to 6.6 moved it back to 5.4. Check engine light will come on, I turn car off then back on and no check engine light, seems like it only happens when the car is cold.

Re: Code 55

What is the tps doing? Backprobe it with a multimeter and watch what the voltage does as you open it. Smooth signal? Drop anywhere? 55 is an ecm related issue although it's not terribly specific. Tap the case with a screwdriver while it's running and see if it stalls.

Re: Code 55

The tps got a smooth signal, it seems fine. I'll check the ECM tomorrow, I just took the IAC out and cleaned the tip. When I start the car up it smelt like strong gas fumes.

Re: Code 55

Everything seems, good now...no codes but the old one code 33. I just replaced the MAF senor about 6 months ago. Do I need to check the voltage at the MAF?

Re: Code 55

Well, I took the intake off to check the resistance on the injectors. I got .01 on all of the injectors? no good?

Sorry just found out my multimeter can't read less then .01 so...i may go buy a new one

Re: Code 55

My car is running great untill I was driving to the park and I got a code 36 and 66. I'm going to buy new mass air flow relays...when driving back home...I went over a speed bump and my car died but started right back up.

Re: Code 55

The number of seemingly random codes you're getting leads me to believe it's a problem with the ecm or a bad ground.
