You're talking about the open air intake I was helpin you on? The sensor that goes into the box right? If so you dont unbolt it. I thought you did that too but you dont (Well I didnt). This is how it works... That bolt you are trying to take off is the place where the sensor clips into. So all you are doing is unclipping it. Its very simple to do, I cant really explain how you unclip it but if you just look at it up close I think you will figure it out. Look at it tomorrow when you get a chance and tell me if you see how its clipped on. Later man!

Okay I got the air box out to do which I had to unclip something from it. Now whenever the engine runs for a few minutes I get the SES light on. I think mayb its because I have to take something off of the airbox and clip it back into that clip. Am I right?

hey - you guys are talkign about a large bolt-like object in the Air elbow or air box..im assuming you are speaking of the Inlet Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor.

if so, thats the reason your SES light comes on. the engine NEEDS your IAT sensor (fuel injection here) to sense the coldness/warmness of air and to allow a certain amount of fuel to come into the engine. yes you can take them off, but you need to get a resistor or something to plug into the sensor wiring to trick the computer at the very least, or your mods will go to **** cause the computer will go into "limp-home" mode when it sees there is no IAT!

at least figure out a way to trick the computer into thinking there is something there...

unscrew (7/8ths hex head if i remember right) the IAT from the airbox and plug the sucker back in, move it so its near a source of cool air.. itll be fine.. mines been hanging in front of the rad for over a year now, no problems..

You can but its really not worth it. The only reason is if you rounded the thing so bad to where you couldnt get a grip on it. Here is how to get the sensor housing off. Take the air box OFF to where you are holding it. The sensor housing will still be bolted in. Put the box on the ground (carpet is best) face down (open end down). Get an adjustable wrench. Get the wrench on it to where it has a GOOD *** GRIP on the bolt. Get someone to hold the box down while you pull/push it towards you. With some good man power it will come loose. But it is not easy at all. But, come on Im 16 and I got it off! Good luck man! Let me know how it turns out! Later!

I know I'm annoying but- 85-92 = MAT. 93-up = IAT.

anyway, i dont know if they put some sorta thread sealer on that damn thing or what but mine was a total mother to get out too, thought i was gonna crack the airbox.. but yeah its a under 10$ part from autozone.. just ask for a replacement IAT (incoming air temp sensor) for your car..

$13 I think from Next Gen. Yep it is hard to get off. But it is possible. scoob8000 did you get it off by what I said? Or did you take your own route or have it already off?

Oh and did Gramer ever get this done? HEY GRAMER YOU OUT THERE!?

There's no such thing as an IAT on our car.

That's 93-up terminology.

Our 3rd gens call it a MAT- Manifold Air Temp.
