BACK FROM THE BODY SHOP!
BACK FROM THE BODY SHOP!
Here she is... back from the body shop, re-painted bright silver (a little brighter
than the original color). 1986 Camaro, yes, V6 - for those who don't know the story, I've had her for a year and gradually become increasingly attached to a car that was originally a beater (and had been driven as such - this thing was in terrible condition when I bought it). A little under 90,000 miles, newly-rebuilt world-class tranny in there, burns no oil (synthetic), and blew my friend's '00 3.8 Mustang into the weeds on the track, road-racing (that car wouldn't stop understeering for anything in the world). Now if I can just find a 4.10...
(taken in the BMW NA parking lot, Woodcliff Lake, NJ - funny thing, my colleagues get a major kick out of the car)

no dont get ground FX. I think it looks sweet like it is. I think headlight black outs and tinted windows would really look sweet. I see u already got the tail light black outs...good choice

Thank you all!
Garmer, those rims are Panther PCS alloys. Post pictures of your car, I gotta see this, haven't seen these rims on a another 3rd gen before.
One of my German colleagues took one look and proclaimed it "das beeeest."
The rear spoiler is missing because it's still at the body shop - one of the pieces was cracked and the guy re-ordered it; I need to go back to have the whole thing replaced.
I like the sleeper look - eventually I will throw a 4.10/11 rear end in her, and with the World-Class V8 T5 in there, she should move pretty good, V6 or no. So as far as cosmetic stuff, I plan to leave her as is.
Without the ground effects, badging, or anything to detract from the shape, you really see why they called the 3rd gen design one of the most beautiful ever back in 1982. There are lines, curves, that I never knew existed.
And it's the anti-rice, it really is. There's no mention of the manufacturer - either of
the car, or its parts - anywhere. I figure if you don't know it's a Camaro, you're brain dead and wouldn't care even if you did.
Silver's the greatest color for accentuating a good shape. Picking up a thirdgen freshly painted bright silver rivals seeing your first naked girl...

I agree, the car looks perfect! Don't add any GFX...leave it the way it is. With third gens, less is definitely more when it comes to appearance. Yours is the 1st very clean SC I've seen with no "camaro" logos on the fenders, or with no door rub strips. Very clean!
Granted, I don't work for BMW, but at the dealer I work for part-time, we got guys who own 442s, Hurst/Olds's, Formula 350s etc. But my little '89 2.8 in Medium Grey Metallic with nothing more than lightly tinted windows gets as much attention or more. There's something about a clean, monotone third gen that just looks right!
And I agree with ya...keep the ol' 2.8 going

Looks good, congrats on the paint. And I agree; no ground effects!
