CRAZY Seat Question/Call for new Moderator

First and foremost, I've heard most GM seats are swappable. Fiero seats fit in Monte Carlos, 4th gens in third gens, will a 95 Saturn seat fit in my 'bird? Over spring break (see spring break plans in a former post), I'd like to get both of my seats reupholstered, but I imagine the guys at the paint shop will need something to sit on when moving the bird around. I figured I could hand the seats over to the cloth shop while the car is in the paint shop, and borrow my dad's passenger seat for the time in the shop. Any input?

Second, how do we get a new Moderator? I'm not sure if we can, but I'll be the first to call a "no confidence" vote in Graeme's Firebird. He locks down anythign remotely non-tech, and some things that are a little tech, and then throws up his own posts trying to settle personal scores (see "monkie"). It's stupid and unprofessional moves like that that don't let us have non-tech friendly posts. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the hypocrisy factor.

DON'T MISUNDERSTAND ME: I'm sure Graeme's Firebird is a nice guy, and he certainly is a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help people out around here, but I don't think he is handling the moderator position very thoughtfully.

Comments, suggestions?

-Reno

I think that you'll have a bit of trouble stirring the pot right under Graeme's nose, so to speak. Moderators are appointed by the BB owners, so if you have a problem, you should get in touch with the owner. I do admit that I disagree partially with some of the stuff he is locking/has locked up. And as a moderator, he should be MODERATE In his language usage. Dropping f-this and ****-that isn't appropriate for anyone in his position. But seriously, if you have a problem with a mod, it shouldn't be dealt with under the board that he/she mods. That just isn't very nice.

Well before this turns into a witch-hunt (see Monty Python), a couple of things. One is Mookie offended at all? Two, please cite specific references of Graeme's "offenses". Personally, locking threads about "kicking a Ferrari's *** with a red wagon and a tail wind" seems to be within his domain. Stuff like that tends to suck up bandwidth and as we all know this site has gone down numerous times before because of bandwidth problems.

Just my $.02.

I support everything the moderators and the owner of this website does.

If you have a problem with something regarding the moderators, then send them a private e-mail. Their e-mail address is under their profile information. If this does not satisfy you, then e-mail the owner of the website about it.

Why can nobody understand this? If you have a problem with an employee at work, you talk to them or their boss in private. You don't wait until everyone's in the same room to attack them.

As to the tech, Reno, it depends if the seat rails of a Saturn match that of an f-bodies. Many GM seats share the same seat-to-rail bolt pattern, but not all rails share the same rail-to-floor pattern.

I'm not trying to start a witch hunt, in fact, I'm glad people are talking both ways on it. I think this should be discussed openly and settled. I don't think several emails shot around behind people's backs would solve it at all. They'd be flagrently ignored, or suddenly Graeme's would vanish, probably pissed about it, and I'd be the bad guy. If this was a work setting, it should be handled in private, so as not to upset the herd, but we're all hobbyists, looking to have a good time, and I think most of us could generally call each other friends.

Does anyone know how much of a pain swapping the rails would be? that sounds like a PITA, and I've got a pretty tight schedule as is for that week...

1. Remove a seat from each car
2. Flip them over
3. Unbolt the rails
4. Switch rails/seats
5. Bolt on new rails if the pattern's the same
6. Put seats back in cars.

Took me 5 minutes. Switching the recline mechanism, about an hour or so- didn't want to tear the newer seat up.

recline mechanism? I figured that was built into the seat, not the rails... thanks for the info though.

how about this.......when u drop the car off to the shop. throw a milk crate in it. It will worlk the same. no reason ur body shoip guy should be driving ur car over 2mph so a milk crate is fine.

Reno, I didn't mean to insinuate that you would start a witch hunt. These types of situation can easily get out of hand and turn into a large bit of nastiness. I think you are handling it fine.

You're right, it is built into the seat, I was putting in my same-fabric'd seats from a 4-door Pontiac 6000, and the seats didn't tilt forward. I just figured I'd give a gauge on how fast it is to change rails.

In response to Graeme's last post:

mm-hmm, and this would be why I wanted to settle this in the open, so you would see many people do support you, and to a degree, myself included. Locking down tech posts is fine, it's the fact that you posted your own NON-tech, like really far out non tech posts, that I found disturbing. And when I pointed that out, you ignored it. I'm not trying to send anyone away in a tantrum here, just asking for some fairness. I apologize that you feel you need to leave because of this.

Don't think because you add some tech at the top that you can use that as an excuse to slip in whines and bitches. It's been said a thousand times, if you don't like something, take it to email, but leave it the **** off here. Clear enough?
