Anybody experienced this with a 2.8 or 3.1 V6 ?
You start the car and when you try to rev it in neutral it will not rev. It's like it hits the rev limiter at like 1200 rpm. Fuel pressure is constant around 50 psi, air gets in there no problem, so I'm thinking spark ? Could it be a bad distributor or module ? My 85 Camaro did this when it was very cold, but it would go away when it got warm. This happens on a 91 3.1 RS however. Any ideas ?
p.s. so far I plugged and unplugged the distributor wires, checked the TPS sensor, and swapped the ECM and memcal with no change in symptoms.

Well heres What Mine did. the 2.8 that I had had a similar problem. somehow I burned a piston and pretty much slaughtered a ring and lost almost all compression causing blowbye. It would free rev hardly at all.
just a suggestion check your compression on all 6 holes.
and if you need to rebuild that 6 spend a few extra bucks and add a mild turbo and crank the compression ratio up a touch (you wont be sorry
Good luck to you.
