it was an upper level product, but could be put on the base firebirds as an options. I've got one, but i'm rare apparently, cause i put an article up on the history/resto board if anyone (v8 or v6) had them stock, and no one replied. maybe i'm one in 100 or so

Here is a tech article on how to install an overhead console onto a T-Top equipped Camaro https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...dconsole.shtml Keep us posted on your progress. I have been thinking about getting an overhead console also.

this "overhead console" we're all blabbing about, what is it? i think i have it too. Its got a little number pad thing so you remember your appointments, arrivals/departures?? it also has a small map light right? well if this is it, then consider me 3/100. I hate this thing, i was thinking of taking it out cuz my system rattles the **** outta the little number pad thing. should i keep it?
Well, if you pull it out, there are a few holes cun in your headliner underneath it, so you'd need a new one, but, if your console is complete (flashlight, good shape, keep all the hardware that holds it up, etc) you can make enough money off the thing to but a headliner at a junkyard and still have some nice cash left. Going rate for them on eBay if they're in good shape is close to $100, but if you want to be a real car guy, offer it on the classified board first for $60 or so.
Wouldn't you appreciate it if a part you needed was offered much cheaper then you'd expect for a few days before being auctioned?
Just my .02.

yeah, don't take it out, remember, it's rare
, heck, my friends Trans Am didn't even have one. Oh yeah, as far as interior stuff goes, I found almost a duplicate of my car, a blue 1985 firebird (mines black) but i finally got to see what a true base model looked likes. (sorry to anyone who has one) The car has the idiot lights, and one tone seats, along with one tone door panels, all tan of course. But on the other hand he has the T/a steering wheel like mine. But, i was turned away when i popped the hood, and saw the rusted out plenum of a 2.8L, the 2.8L doesn't bother me, just teh fact that it's rusted out, i mean, did the guy leave the hood open during a rain storm that went on for 3 days or soemthing. It looked like crap, that and all the damn spiderwebs under the hood too.

I heard a mechanic at my dealer refer to my 'bird as "triple black," black on the outside, inside, and dash I think he said. I've got the gauged cluster, no idiot lights, and 140 speedo (I believe). But all my interior panels and seats are one tone black.
Unfortunately that means I have to reupholster my new visors (they're grey), but at least the overhead console comes in one color, and it's the correct one.

My car came stock with the overhead console as well. Hmmm...looking at my options info, it seems that this is the code:
DK6 : CONSOLE ROOF, INTERIOR
Heh, that makes 3 in 100....I should ask GM historical services about that...
