anyone thought of turboing their 2.8?

was looking at some 350 TT setups and noticed that some people just basically cut a hole in their stock manifolds, welded a plate onto it and thats how they hooked up the turbo..ran their wastegate down, ran oil drain straight down to the pan and pulled fresh oil at the top of the block...we have so much room i was wondering...?

We have the room...the question is, does anyone have the initiative??

The only remotely workable turbo setup I can think of that wouldn't need a shi*load of custom fab work would be a 3.1 turbo GP engine...and when was the last time you saw one of those??

I think Reno has the best idea...take a small-block designed blower and modify the brackets for a 60 degree V6.

I would definetely love to know about this. If I was in the position right now to where I had a garage to put my car in I would have the most initiative to do this but maybe this will soon change. Anybody who knows more about this, I would sure love to hear some more input on this.

My lifetime dream project is a twin turbo 2.8!!!!
I think I have a design, just need the parts for it! It would require a lot of fab work, but it would be kickass!!! You turn the headers so they come forward and up. The headers bolt to the turbos, and then a pipe from the turbo runs down and back to the exhaust system. The turbos point inward, and there is a T pipe connecting them to the throttle body intake, or MAF, or whatever. The only thing you would have to figure out is where do you get the turbos you need, and how to figure out who will make all of brackets. THAT IS IT!!! I think that you could probably use V8 turbos, and I have seen a couple of engines with these kinds of turbos. Just get those and make all of your brackets, get a custom made chip, and then go burn some V8's!!! Oh, I guess you would need some money somewhere in there.......

HEY y dont u guys use the turbo 3.1 grand prix GTP motor?????? They arent all that hard to find and if u had the money u could probably order it from the dealer. I think that would be the best way to turbo a 2.8/3.1. C MON GUYS U HAVE THE RIGHT IDEAS LETS SEE SOME RESULTS!!

I never considered a turbo for my motor, or even a supercharger for that matter. Spending the cost & effort on a v8 swap makes more sense to me. (laughs) Heck, I'm not even going to put forged pistons into my 2.8 rebuild- I don't think it's worth it.

Forgive me, ONEFINE8T9, but I believe that GTP's have superchargers in them. In fact, I'm positive abou this...

the older grand prixs where turbos and the newer ones are supercharged. I didnt mean take the motor i mean just the supercharger. Its still the same 6 cyl right? correct me if im wrong but if its the same 6 couldnt a bracket of some sort be fabricated to get the supercharger to work properly? If the computer is the problem than have a custom burned chip. I think it would be worth it. Pontiac got 200hp out of the 3.1 turbos in the 91 grand prix GTP. I am sure with that that set up and some smart mods u can push well over 250
