Techie questions... re: V6

I have been looking at everyone's mods around here. I would like to keep my Camaro when I get it fairly stock, with the exeptions of getting a K&N and a nice Flowmaster. Maybe some other light mods.

But my question is am I going to notice a difference with "light" mods? Whats some of the easier ways of upping your horsies on a V6? Is 180 HP without anything major a possibility?

Whats a reccomendation for a RS that will make it nice and quick?

BTW,My Friend has a Ford **** Probe GT,and its got turbos....He's got a manual. Any chance of spanking him with a 2.8 or 3.1?

180 will take a lot of work. YOu only get like 140 from the factory and you do not get gains on a v6 the way you do an 8 so like a cat back will get you like 5hp headers another 5 and a high flow cat mayby another 5 and the y-pipe that comes with your Headers a good 5 hp.There ya go 20 hp from a full exhaust. On my Trans Am I would say this was worth at least 45 with the headers a custom y and no cat going to a 3" Flowmaster. I mean I could feel a BIG difference when it was done. Ram air will give you another 5 and a complete ignition with a MSD box an good coil, MSD low resistan wires and AC rapid Fire plugs will gain you about 5 more. So now we are up to adding in 30. So here we are at 170, about what the TBIs came with. SO lets talk about putting it all to the ground with a POsi unit and lower gears. THis will make you feel like you car has a lot more power than it does. and Hey your V6 will be ligher than a stock 305TBI to. THough consider this how many stock 305TBIs do you see out spanking Mustangs and Ricers. Now you can refer to my other post concerning your heads and cam and such. I think this all together with the head work, cam, port matching, and other cheap things should get you up to about 205-210. About where a stock 305 TPI with the good cams made. There nlow if you have a lower gear and a 5-spped, bam you are running. I would highly sudjest though waiting on a chip till you feel content with you mods and get one burnt. Aftermarket ones are crap and I wish I would have never bought mine. Adjustable Fuel pressure regualators are a good investment to. If you really want tu surprise people get some NOS! hehehehe.

Reworked 305 heads with 3-angle valve job. Added in the rebuild was an SLP TPI cam, BBK 58mm Throttle Body,SVO 24# injectors,MSD 6A, Hypertech Power Coil, 1.5 Crane roller tipped rocker arms, SLP Intake Runners and Port matching in upper intake including fully ported plenum, TPIS adjustable fuel pressure regulator @ 46psi, Hooker shorty style headers w/ Thermotech heat wrapping, Custom 3” exhaust with Flowmaster muffler and chrome quad tips, Hypertech Thermomaster Computer chip, K&N open element cone filter on modified MAF per TPIS specs, MSD Wires, removal of A/C hardware and a 1LE firewall cover installed.
