I think that may be happening, its been right in front of me the whole time!

Shall i contact a Craigslist guy to tighten it up? Maybe thats why i had some strange hesitation sometimes?

Its the one that goes "up and down" vertical seems the loosest, jumps when you look at it but doesnt make noise! Alternator and the other one should be fine,, they work great and have max charge.

Seriously, you must be one of those people that calls "the guy" whenever anything breaks, right? Do you know how simple it is to tighten and/or replace a belt? You may have to loosen 4 bolts and move the alternator or whatever it is that is adjustable and driven by the loose or worn belt and then tighten the bolts...

And no, a loose belt doesn't cause hesitation. Call a CL carb guy and find out what's going on with that carb.

Well, i can tell you that NO i dont know how to tighten a belt.

On another note, i just had the car out today.. Not one issue! Really! it went -GREAT!- i water injected the car, and wow it seems to run a lot better! I also put 4 ounces MMO in the transmission fluid.

So, no, im "not kidding, right." I guess the loose belt wasnt all i thought. And i HAVE had a loos ebelt cause hesitation ona differnet ca,r thought it might be the same.. was checking to see if it woul dbe "this car" specific."

I love my car to death. Anything wrong with that?

A loose belt would have ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT whatsoever on how your engine runs.
And are you seriously telling us you water injected what is no doubt a stock engine, but can't figure out how to tighten a belt, or know enough to know it has no effect on the engine......I haven't read your other posts, but I'm borderline calling troll if this one is any indication of your others.
Only reason for water injection is ludicrous boost or compression, and is generally reserved until intercooler/s and high octane fuel are not enough to prevent detonation.

He didn't exactly install water injection... He used water instead of ATF or SeaFoam to steam clean the top end of the engine. Don't know why he calls it water injection, though... It's a steam cleaning, plain and simple.

+1 Maverick H1L saves the day! I got my term wrong. i took the advice, went on a whim as to remove a lot of carbon from the carb, and used water.. used MMO the week before and made a lot of smoke in doing so with pouring down carb throats, but finished off with a good dose of water, at WOT (wide open throttle.) More complicated (?) things like that are where my thought is at, and things like bolts.. well i did change my lower hose myself. Two screws, two screwdrivers due to position of lower bolt. So yes, apologies. (And it was a different car, a Jaguar, a 1985 XJ6 4.2 to be exact, that tightening a belt made the alternator charge as it was supposed to, which led to light coming on and off with belt tension or lack of, and stopped various electrical/driveability issues. Thought came to mind when i saw a slightly loose one, and yes, im leaving it alone now, and not touching it myself OR calling anyone. Sorry about that.)

I did not install "Water injection" on my stock 2.8!! Thats

So, yes i called it the wrong thing. my engine runs like a top after the steam cleaning.

As to the other word.. I am a normal, somewhat energetic 2.8 owner, year 1984, auto. The car runs so ell im about ready to leave it alone, monitoring if my fuel pump is ok - ad after yesterday's phenomenal performance, all may, in fact, be well. No "Calling the guy" needed, but some things id rather be safe than sorry as i use this car at the most unexpected times. And i wasted $80 on a tow when i found out all i had to do was hold the gas pedal down and turn key for it to start.. and i havent done that since, and i changed spark plugs and wires since then too. Also oil.

Thanks, Maverick, for correcting what i was saying. I have a normal, stock 2.8 with hood pins for appearance and seat covers, again, for appearance. Mechanically? its almost as Day One.

Please forgive me, thank you. Im young and dumb, but i have a displaced passion that now resides in my Third Gen, due to various reasons, and im -all in- to keep it right! Even stock. Thats fine. I will hang back now so as not to 100% burn out this board! Its such a great resource, so with that, i hit "submit," and
