A plea for help and encouragement, all please answer!!!

I just paid $35 to have my dang 'bird jumped. Apparently I didn't have a solid enough connection last night when I tried to jump it. Damn thing started right up, and I had to shell out yet another $35 on it. I'm really on the verge here guys, I'm tired of it!

Please, everyone, tell me how great our cars are, how much I'd regret scrapping it, etc, etc. I need convincing!!!

My parents sold my old camaro cause I couldnt pay for it,and they didnt want me having a sports car at the time.

Trust me,you'll miss your car if you sell it. For as much trouble as it was,the car was worth it.

If not even just for the chick magnetism thing going on with our cars

Amen....even if I sell my car, I will always have a 3rd gen. I've had my share of starting problems too, but every time I take the top off and go for a cruise through town....its all good

RS'er check the cable that goes to your starter, a few months back I had that same problem. Even if its properly connected you have to do the math, that cable is probably over ten years old so if it doesnt receive a plentifull jolt of power it won't send enough power to the starter. As soon as I replaced mine the beast started like nothing.

Also check on your positive battery cable, it might look good at the ends but the insides might be fried. Just my .02

Why did you have to get it jumped? Did you leave the lights on overnight? Was your battery 4 or more years old? That stuff happens to ANY car.

I let a friend borrow it, and he left the 6 disc changer on over like 48 hours of parked on the street in midwest subzero at noon temperature. What pisses me off is it sounded like the starter was dead. Weird effect of low voltage, and I tried to jump it the night before, but didn't hve a good connection with the cables. Ah well, I'm convinced, just spent some quality time cruising around last night and feel much better. Thanks guys!

I look at it like this, if it breaks fix it with better and then you have modded a little. You feel more accomplished.. Heck we are now getting to the point in a few years some of our rides will be 20 years old... We are a dying bread of HIGH Horse Power, Gas Gurgling, Large car loving freaks. Let your ride leave and suck the life out of the earth...

Glad you're out of the slump, Reno!

Brian, you're right.. fix it better! My girl asked me the other night if I'll get rid of my car when it gets old and rusty and beat up. Me (and my guy friends, ha!) jumped on her and said "Well, it'll never be rusty and beat up!" She said, "Well, what if it gets that way? Will you get rid of it for a new one?" I answered again "It'll never be that way!" Finally I said "You have a good point. When we get a house, I'll buy 3 or 4 Firebirds so I'll always have parts! Great Idea! You're the best! (to my friends) Isn't she the best? What other girlfriend would let a guy keep 8 Firebirds in the backyard for parts??" She wasn't amused... but she does understand. I just get picked on every now & then.

Tom, sounds like she's hinting that she'd like you to get another car.

Gotta find a new woman if she watns the car to go! Women are like guys with cars. We don't want a perfect car, we want something that needs a little work, put something into it, make it our own, etc. Personal list of strikes for me:

"You'd look so much beter if you'd cut your hair..."

"You spend more money on your car then on me!"

"So how are you going to make money being an English major?"

Once a chick hits all three, to the curb with ye!!!! The current one is luckily also an english major, and loves Firebirds and T/A's. She was griping about my hair last night though...::grumble::

Hehe, I gave you the wrong impression of her, eh? No, she wants me to keep it. ('Fact she bought me my MSD 6AL box.) She just doesn't want it to become like some of our friends' old cars (total crap). She had an '87 Camaro, but dumped it for a '94 Camaro.

my girlfriend loves my car, i asked if she would make me sell it if we got married and she said never cause she likes it too much, she likes old sports cars like third gens, she wants a 2nd gen T/A herself guess i'll help her out with that one.

Getting back to the origional topic, my 10 sec mustang won't start either until today. The coil went bad and I had an extra. The car started right up.

Even the competition has that kind of problems. Don't give up just keep fixing it.

Also my TTA has been down for almost 3 years. It is getting closer all the time to when I will drive it again.
